WSUS 3.0 How to handle Notebooks
tgoddard 5/24/2007 1:17:07 PM
I'm relatively new to WSUS with a fresh and (so far) healthy WSUS 3.0
installation. All is going OK on office desktops but I'm now about to
address our company notebooks. What is best practice for handling notebooks
which normally connect via VPN and may only make it into the office network
once or twice a month?

I have notebooks in their own group and just do not worry about the late
updates. I have considered setting a deadline for the notebooks so the updates
get installed as soon as then come back into the office but that has its
drawbacks. Some have set up a second WSUS server to service notebooks but set it
to not have any content locally so the notebook will get the approvals from the
WSUS server but download the updates from MS
