Hello everyone,
We are using WSUS on all of our locations, and have upgraded three of them to 3.0. Things were running smoothly for a while but on one of the locations a serious crash occured:
When starting WSUS console it says that an error has occured. Event Log registers this:
The WSUS administration console has encountered an unexpected error. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. If this error persists,
Try removing the persisted preferences for the console by deleting the wsus file under %appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\.
System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException -- Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.xxxxx\Local Settings\Temp\1\rumq6waf.tmp'.

I tried removing the file but after that console wouldn't even find the server. I verified that SQL and IIS are running and that there are no errors reported by any of them. After some hours I gave it up and tried to reinstall. However, setup would find previous installation, tried to remove it, and would always fail afterward. Any ideas about how to fix this?
Also, what worries me the most is the following line from error log: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException -- Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.xxxxx\Local Settings\Temp\1\rumq6waf.tmp'.
Could it be possible that this file was deleted on purpose? I don't recall Windows ever deleting anything it needed from Temp directory. My biggest fear is that someone has deleted it accidentally and won't report it or, even worse, that it had been deleted on purpose.
Any help regarding this error would be most welcome.

I had a same problem.I asume taht u are using Windows 2003.I set windows internal database service to run inder local system account. If that does'nt work you have to go IIS select Aplication pool, choose wsus right click and under identity chooose to run under local system. After that restart update service, windows internal database and IIS.
