I've just upgraded WSUS 2.0 to 3.0. The 2.0 version was running but we had some issues with the best client settings that still exist after the upgrade.
NOTE: We are not in a domain environment so are using local policy to set the clients up.
We want to automate the download and installation of the updates. This we have achieved however some users has local admin rights (don't ask!) and after the scheduled installation get the annoying nag box about restarting now or later.
Ideally I'd like to set it up to download and schedule the installation but not reboot or nag the user to do so. Then when the user shutdown at the end of the day and starts up the next the updates will take effect. I know you can set it to not schedule and instead add the Shutdown and Install Updates option in the Shutdown dialog but some users seem scared by this and choose the regular shutdown instead and then the updates are not installed.
Basically we want to automate the process and not require any user intervention without interupting their work with dialogs etc. I can't seem to find the combination of policy settings to allow this to work.
Any thoughts?
Steve
