I have just installed WSUS 3.0. I only have 6 computers in my domain network and have had the network up with WSUS for almost 24 hours. Still none of the computers have reported their status.
Is there a way to get this done in a reasonable amount of time or to force the reporting? --

where can I find the "Client Diagnostic Tool"?
I looked at the WSUS website, downloads, searched and I could find anything.
BTW, I ran "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" and all of the computers are listed in the WSUS screen but no luck in getting any status.
I did not have this trouble with WSUS 2.0 on another domain. --

I found and ran the client diagnostic tool.
I got a red message that stated "The requested URL does not exist on the server" When I installed WSUS 3.0 I used the default that placed the website on the default webserver. WSUS is installed on a Win2003 domain member server. --

This HTTP 404 error is caused by the CDT attempting to access the resource at http://fserver01/selfupdate/au/x86/<platform>/en/wuaucomp.cab
The '404' error will be thrown if: [a] The resource is missing from the filesystem. [b] The virtual directory is missing, or mapped to the wrong pathname. [c] URLScan is installed, and CAB files have not been enabled for downloading.

The server that hosts WSUS (Fserver01) has the virtual directory under the default website and resource in the correct place.
URLScan is not installed.
I looked at the other properties in the virtual directory and did not see anything unusual.

What happens if you try to browse to that file using Internet Explorer?

I can browse to the wuaucomp.cab file using IE.
I think what I need to do is uninstall WSUS 3.0 and reinstall using the option that configures its own website. Or go back to WSUS 2.0.
I don't think we are getting anywhere but I appreciate the help. --
