So... I just tried to upgrade our WSUS 2 server to WSUS 3. And it bonked out on me with an error. I waded through the errorlog, found some messages, but I couldn't quite figure out what was wrong.
As the database was backed up - and a new Windows Internal Database was created, I tried running setup again.
Alas, no longer any upgrade path was presented. But it did find a database instance it could bind to.
I guess there isn't any way to get the old database data in there, or is there? The documentation isn't quite clear on that with just half a page or so on 'What if your upgrade goes wrong' (and then referring me to the part on how to back up my WSUS 3.0 (!)).
Any thoughts, apart from break down this installation, recreate the WSUS2 server, restore database and try again?
Cheers,
Rick
