WSUS and Group Policy
Unee 5/25/2007 3:11:02 PM
Is there a new wuau.adm file that corresponds with WSUS 3.0? In the current
file there is a windows update setting to "Specify intranet Microsoft update
service location" that would allow you to create a GPO to indicate the server
location from which to retrieve updates via url (http:// location for the
server). This worked great with WSUS 2.0. Does this work for WSUS 3.0 or am
I missing something? What I have are multiple replica servers and I need a GPO
that I can apply to each site OU to direct each site to it's specific WSUS
site server. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

I'm just a newbie to the WSUS 3.0 services. If you have installed WSUS on
port 8530, then your source address has to include the port number. Example:
http://wsusserver:8530

If you've installed the WSUS servers to the default web port 80 then
specifing the port number is not nessesary.

Hoped this helped

No. The WUA policy settings have not changed from WSUS 2 to WSUS 3. There is
no need for a new wuau.adm template.

Yep. And that setting still exists. It's kind of a critical setting for WSUS
functionality! ;-)

Methinks you might be missing something.

Create *multiple* GPOs, and link each GPO to the appropriate SITE, with the
correct site-specific URL in the GPO?
