How to add/edit approval on multiple updates?
"Per-Torben Sørensen" <mspts[ at ]ventelo.net> 6/20/2007 8:14:46 AM
Hello.

We have a wsus server that will serve for 3 locations plus our testalb.
Now I have one computer group for each location and one for the testlab (for
testing updates)

When an update is downloaded to the server I approve it in the root-tree and
let the testlab computer group inherit that. I set the location computer
groups to not approved. If the update works fine on the computers in the
testlab I want to set the location computers to inherit the approval as
well.

Now, when I select several updates they don't show the current approvals so
I ahave to re-approve and configure the inhereting all over again.

Am I doing somethng wrong, or is this normal behaviour?

Is there a smart way to set this up so I can easily just let the location
computer groups inherit the approval?

Regards
Per-Torben Sørensen

Why not just approve for the TEST GROUP =only=. Leave "All Computers" at
=Not Approved=.

Then, when you're satisfied that testing is successful, set "All Computers"
to =Install= and click on OK.

I'm not a big fan of configuring exceptions at a lower level of a heirarchy,
*especially* when the exceptions apply to all but one group! Approve the
*one* group if that's the only group that needs the approval.

Hello.

That's part of the problem.

when I approve for TEST GROUP and ahve tested OK, then I need to find those
updates and approve them. But when I select more than one at a time the
approvals are reset in the approval window so I have to re-approve.

Ahh... when setting the options in that window to add the approvals for the
new groups, you must also ensure that "TEST GROUP" is still set to Install,
or it will be unapproved, as all selections in the current dialog will
overwrite any previously existing settings.
