Error on XP installing WSUS 3.0 admin console Jim Holmes 6/25/2007 7:39:01 PM I recently installed wsus 3.0 and it runs fine on the server. I set up a map drive to my wsus server update services folder in program files. I am trying to install the admin console on my xp machine and I get the following error when I run WusSetup.exe: Windows Server Update Services 3.0 could not be installed. I had to find it on the Microsoft download site because my wsus update to 3.0 wsus did not leave a WSUS3Setupx896.exe installer package (that I could find). And it ain't gonna! If you upgraded via installation directly from the WSUS content store, then you'll need to go download the installer from the microsoft.com/wsus website. If you upgraded your system from the WSUS3Setupx86.exe installer, then you've already got it. Either way, you *need* the WSUS3Setupx86.exe installer package, and you need to run it on the XP machine, and select the installation option for "client tools".
