Hello, If it was upgraded from SUS 1.0, why SUS 1.0 is still in the Add/remove progs ? Can you try to remove SUS1.0 from there?

There was no upgrade from SUS 1 to WSUS2. WSUS2 and SUS1 could live = side by side without uninstalling either version. I believe you were = able to do a manual migration between the two versions, but it was not = an upgrade like WSUS2 to WSUS3 is.
=20
You need to manually uninstall SUS1 ("Microsoft Software Update = Services") and try the upgrade to WSUS3 again.

Because... Fei.... the SUS-to-WSUS Migration Guide *correctly* instructed those admins to *disable* the functionality of SUS by marking the "Default Web Site" as STOPPED -- but there was never any documentation provide as to how to *uninstall* SUS 1.0 without breaking the functionality of WSUS v2.0
I discussed that issue many times in this forum during the several months after release of WSUS 2.0 and it requires either backing up and restoring, or cloning from the port 8530 website, the /selfupdate and /clientwebservice v-roots. I suspect many admins (particularly those who never visited this newgroup), failed to do any of the above.
Now, WSUS 3.0 installer comes along and gripes about the presence of SUS 1.0, But, truth be told, the deficiency is in the SUS-to-WSUS Migration Guide, for not properly addressing the removal of SUS 1.0 in the first place. :-(

Actually, as documented in the SUS-to-WSUS Migration Guide, the *disabling* of the SUS server was a recommended step to complete the *migration* from SUS 1.0 to WSUS 2.0
>You need to manually uninstall SUS1 ("Microsoft Software Update Services") >and try the upgrade to WSUS3 again.
Unfortunately, this procedure has never been properly documented, and executing the *SUS* uninstall from A/R Programs will break the /selfupdate installation on the port 80 server of a SUS-to-WSUS migrated system.

I am having a similar issue:
We did the migration from 1.0 to 2.0 but there is no option for uninstalling version 1.0.
Advice?

The Microsoft Software Update Services is the old SUS. Remove it. You may have to remove the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services Service Pack 1 first.

I'll give it a try.
Thanks Michael

*Removing* Software Update Services 1.0 on a machine migrated from SUS to WSUS will result in breaking the WSUS installation, unless one has the proper (and, unfortunately, not yet documented) steps for doing so.
In short, one must manually recreate the /selfupdate virtual directory on the Default Web Site, because the SUS 1.0 uninstaller will remove it.
>You may have to remove the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services Service >Pack 1 first.
There is no need to remove WSUS SP1.
