Computer stop communicating
Warren 6/18/2007 1:28:02 PM
Hello,

I am using WSUS 2.0 on a Windows 2000 server. One of the computers connected
to the server stop communicating with the server. It was working fine then I
went in and did a checkup and the computer has not communicated in 30 days?
The computer is running Windows XP with 3.0 update agent.
Any ideas as to why it would just stop like that?

Thanks
Warren

Run the Client Diagnostic Tool, post the results; Inspect the
WindowsUpdate.log for errors.

Thank you for you reply Lawrence,

I ran the diagnostic tool and it said everything passed but there was a
error message.

VerifyWUServerURL() failed with hr=0x80072ee6
The URL does not use a recognized protocol

If you still need me to post the the WindowsUpdate.log I can do that but it
is fairly lengthly.

Your URL is defective. Please post the entire results of the diagnostic tool
output.

It's about 30 lines long, and it's been posted here a gazillion times over
the past two years. It's the primary diagnostic tool for client side
diagnostics, and quite often misinterpreted. And, when not misinterpreted,
almost always the information "left out" (Like, in this case, the configured
URL) contains the rest of the information to provide a definitive solution
to the reported problem.
