Logon failures and 401 errors after upgrade from 2 to 3 fignewton <stephendkay[ at ]gmail.com> 5/9/2007 4:02:24 PM Ever since I upgraded my WSUS from 2.0 to 3.0, my security event log is filled with 534 errors: Logon Failure: Reason: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this machine User Name: IUSR_SERVERNAME Domain: TCHSFP01 Logon Type: 8 Logon Process: Advapi Authentication Package: Negotiate Workstation Name: SERVERNAME Caller User Name: NETWORK SERVICE Caller Domain: NT AUTHORITY Caller Logon ID: (0x0,0x3E4) Caller Process ID: 6036 Transited Services: - Source Network Address: - Source Port: - Logon type 8 has something to do with sending a password in clear text. Also, my IIS logs are full of 401 (not authorized) errors. My 2.0 installation was working fine. Can anyone explain what is going on here?

Basically this log is saying you havent grant anonymous access to IIS.
