Update Services Service Won't Start At Startup... phyberport 5/23/2007 1:25:00 PM Whenever my WSUS 3 server starts up, I get the service or driver failure message before logon. The system event log reports "The Update Services service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". Event ID 7000. I can logon and manually start the service. It's driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the softwaredistribution.log in your Update Services directory on the WSUS server. You should see some clues there hopefully..

Dive into the services configuration section of the registry, and extend the timeout for the service startup to 60000ms.
