You have WSUS =3=<???> running an on "old server"?

If this is a WSUS3 server you're going to migrate to a new box, the *easiest* way to do that is: [a] Install the second server as a replica of the first. [b] Synchronize the new server with the old, and wait for the content to transfer. (You can also expedite the content transfer by using removable media.) [c] Reconfigure the newly installed replica as an autonomous server synchronizing with microsoft.com [d] Reconfigure your policies to update from the new server. [e] Decommission the old server.
However, if you've mistyped and the old server is a WSUS =2= server..then it'll take a bit more work.
Please confirm the installed version before I expand on the WSUS2-to-WSUS3-on-a-new-server migration. (Which, btw, is also discussed in at least three other threads in the past two months in this newsgroup.)

At a minimum you will need to do that yes.

Shutdown the old server *BEFORE* connecting the new server to the domain. :-)
