We recently upgraded from WSUS 2.0 to 3.0. The upgrade seemed to go smoothly
and it correctly synchs updates and we saw all clients in the MMC. However,
since the upgrade, none of our clients are reporting to the server anymore
and are not downloading updates. In the WindowsUpdate.log, I am seeing this
error:

WARNING: GetAuthorizationCookie failure, error = 0x80244019, soap client
error = 10, soap error code = 0, HTTP status code = 404

Everything was working in WSUS 2.0 so not sure why we would be getting a 404
error. Any thoughts? Here are the last ~15 minutes of activity in the
WindowsUPdate.log in case it helps:

Have you tried using just the simple form of the machinename, e.g.
http://pdx-ris2 ?

Are you using host headers? Have you entered a host header for both
'pdx-ris2' and 'pdx-ris2.zgf.local'?

Also, the most obvious, but least likely -- is the SimpleAuthWebService
virtual directory properly pathed and does the SimpleAuth.asmx file
physically exist in the configured pathname?

Thanks for the response. Turns out the issue was related to the port used
for updates. It appears that the upgrade changed the AU site from port 80 to
port 8530. I don't recall seeing an optoin during the upgrade, but once I
changed the port in our policy, computers started working again.

In our WSUS config GPO, I replaced "http://pdx-ris2.zgf.local" with
"http://pdx-ris2.zgf.local:8530" and clients started communicating again.

How can I tell what port AU is using from IIS MMC? It wasn't obvious to me
as I was troubleshooting...

You cannot.

You'd need to:
[a] Inspect the IIS Administration tool and see where the WSUS website
is installed, or
[b] Have taken the appropriate notes when the installation wizard noted
what the correct URL for clients would be.
