I have one followup on this thread... I tried to find confirmation of this prior to posting, but was unable to, so I took the conservative route; however, now I have found it (in Chapter 13 of the MSPress 70-290 Training Kit).
Concerning the procedure I documented:
> [1] Use IISAdmin to make a backup of the IIS Metabase. > [2] Run NTBackup and select > [a] The \WSUS folder, and > [b] C:\Inetpub, and > [c] C:\Program Files\Update Services, and > [d] C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\MetaBack, and > [e] the System State
It is not necessary to perform step [1], as the System State backup will include the IIS Metabase automatically.
Thus, the above procedure is correctly written as:
> Run NTBackup and select > [a] The \WSUS folder, and > [b] C:\Inetpub, and > [c] C:\Program Files\Update Services, and > [d] the System State

Everything you need for WSUS is at http://www.microsoft.com/wsus
And, almost everything else is at http://wsusinfo.onsitechsolutions.com .....
