WSUS 3.0 Client Not Finding Updates "John J. Jobst" <john.j.jobst[ at ]us.army.mil> 6/14/2007 2:33:36 PM I had a WSUS 2.0 SP1 implementation at my site. The database on the server was stored on our SAN. Our SAN crashed. I fixed our SAN, and rather than restore the old database and try to recover, I removed WSUS 2.0 and installed WSUS 3.0 from scratch. It configured up nicely, synchronizations took place, updates were downloaded, clients reported their status, I moved clients to the groups I had configured, I approved updates for the appropriate groups. In other words, it would appear that everything is working perfectly. Then new updates arrived on patch Tuesday. I approved them for my test PC and Server groups. WSUS reported that the clients needed the updates. I run wuauclt /detectnow on the clients. Nothing. The client log reports 0 updates detected. The client diagnostic tool reported the client as version 2, so I tried KB936301, but it said the client was already installed. Re: WSUS 3.0 Client Not Finding Updates "Tom" <mqtesting[ at ]gmail.com> 6/14/2007 2:55:38 PM Hey John, I came across this and figured the WSUS Client Diag Tool had not been updated and so it automatically reports everything at WSUS version 2.0. I tried running the WSUS Agent 3.0 on these clients and it reported back that the 3.0 Agent is already installed. Ran the Diag Tool again and it still shows version WSUS 2.0 so it appears to me the Diag Tool wasn't updated with the rollout of WSUS 3.0. -My .02 cents worth "John J. There are no duplicate entries. All PCs have been assigned to groups, so the Unassigned Computers group is empty. This phenomenon is happening on all 60 PCs in the Test PCs group and all 10 servers in the Test Servers group. I have not approved any new updates for any production machines, and don't really want to experiment with them. Thanks for your help.
