I have a server running windows 2003 with wsus 2.0 and another windows 2003 runs ms sql 2000 used by wsus.
I want to upgrade the wsus 2.0 to wsus 3.0. What are the steps involve and needed windows components required. Also what will be require if want to move the database one the remote system to the system that will be running the wsus 3.0.
i will appreciate links that can help.
thx in advance.

Since your backend is SQL 2000, this is a little tricky. Assuming you want to use the Windows Internal Database locally on the WSUS 3 server the simplest way would be to us the wsusexport and wsuimport tools along with wsusutil.exe to export the metadata and approvals (as well as all other settings), then do a fresh install of WSUS3 with a new database and use the WSUS3 version of those utilities to suck all of the metadata and approvals back in. The only thing I have found that you really loose is computer group assignment. If your using client side targeting this is no big deal because the computers will drop back in the correct group.
