Problem with WSUS 3.0 MMC Rob Hall <Rob.Hall.2qs8vi[ at ]DoNotSpam.com> 5/18/2007 2:05:49 PM Hello. Have recently install WSUS3.0 onto a Windows 2003 sp2 server. Install went fine, but when I try and open the Admin MMC - the admin console seems to hang on "Expanding" and eventually error's out with the option to end the MMC process or remove the snap-in and continue. At the moment I am unable to administer my WSUS server and I am considering downgrading back to WSUS 2. Has anyone else had this problem or have any idea? MMC 3.0 is installed? Are the Account in the local Accounts for WSUS: WSUS Administrators + Reporters? Check the c:\windows\system32 folder for a file mmc.exe.config and rename it to mmc.exe.config.old and try restarting the WSUS 3 snapin The mmc.exe.config file is a backwards compatibility file that can force MMC to utilize an older version of dotnet framework whiich can break WSUS 3.0 MMC which requires Dotnet 2.0.
