I asked this question once before but did not get an accurate answer. I have a GPO that sets the Windows Update features to download and install on a schedule.
This worked great in the XP world where an administrator could log in anytime prior to the scheduled "automatic" install time and see a balloon in the system tray indictating that new updates were available. If the administrator wanted to they could click on the balloon and choose to install one or all updates prior to their scheduled install time.
However, in Vista the balloon has been replaced with an updates icon. The icon states that new updates are ready for install. If you click on the icon, there is no way (at least that I've found) to install the updates prior to the scheduled time. Has this functionality been removed from the update client in Vista or am I just missing something?
Thanks.
