Best Way To Upgrade To 3.0 Jeff Banning 6/6/2007 5:03:01 PM I've got a solid WSUS 2.0 installation with the database on a separate SQL Server 2005 SP2 server. The WSUS 3.0 updates are available to both servers via my existing WSUS install. Is that the best way to get up to 3.0? Is there a specific order to upgrade the servers? I thought I have done my due diligence and looked around for instructions, but I haven't been able to find anything that provides me some guidance on these questions. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, the best way to get *your* existing SQL Server =2005= environment up to speed is to follow the instructions as documented in the WSUS 3 Deployment Guide. Essentially that involves: [a] Uninstalling WSUS 2.0 from the back-end server. [b] Upgrading WSUS 2.0 to WSUS 3.0 on the front-end server. [c] Completing the steps as documented in Appendix B to link the front-end server to the back-end server. The WSUS install is no longer required to be run on the back-end server.
