Not listing all sites???
tke402 7/3/2007 1:04:01 AM
Hi I have three sites. When I look at DNS under my forward lookup zone I only
see Deafault_First_Site under the _sites section. There are only records for
the DCs in my default first site in there. Should there be entries for my
other two sites?

Thanks,

TKE402

Did you create you other two sites in AD Sites and Services?
(many people don't so we have to presume this MIGHT be the
reason since you didn't describe your setup.)

Is every Site described by the correct (set of) Subnets?

Does every DC appear in the correct site? (If not, move it.)

Is every DC able to find the dynamic DNS Master(s) which
can accept the dynamic registrations? (i.e., find either the
single Primary or one of the AD Integrated DNS Servers).

Can every DC pass a complete "DCDiag /c" with no FAIL or
WARN messages?

Do any DCs have an external DNS server listed on their NIC->
IP properties?

yes I created them there and configured the subnets etc.

[So why didn't you] confirm that you have every DC in the correct site?

If there are no DCs then that site will not be added to DNS (as it has no
real meaning in DNS without a DC.)

At least one DC must be in a site for it to be added to DNS.

Are there DCs in the missing sites when you view AD Sites and Services?

IF so, focus on those DCs as the source of the problem.

Likely you will find they are NOT using ONLY the Internal DNS Servers
which can resolve the internal names AND allow for registration dynamically.

What about the DCDiag tests I gave your to try?
