This (DNS Server setting) can work for a workgroup if you have NetBIOS enabled on all machines but is not workable if you move to a domain.

Then it is NOT a "Workgroup" and all members of the domain MUST use strictly the INTERNAL DNS server (e.g., on your DC.)

All the other domain client machines must use this DNS Setting too.

Wrong DNS server is being used.

Either reconfigure the DLink (if possible) or just use the DHCP on the Server and disable it on the DLink.
