Resolving mycompany.com without www?
"Nutzer" <helo[ at ]hotmail.com> 6/8/2007 8:44:29 PM
All,

What do I need to do to resolve http://mycompany.com and
http://www.mycompany.com? I have made the necessary changes to my external
DNS hosting provider to point to the IP of my website.

Thanks!

Use an additional A record for mycompany.com or a CNAME record
for it.

You cannot (easily or reliably) do this for INTERNAL DNS with an
AD domain since all of the DCs also register the "base name" of the
domain -- this should NOT be an issue for "external" DNS which
you state is your issue here.

Hi,

The name will resolve only if ur ISP provider enables reverse dns ur live
ip. Its need to be done, then try it u can resolve it within 2 to 3 days.

Resolving a name like mycompany.com to an IP address has ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING to do with a reverse zone, not at the ISP nor anywhere else.

Resolving a bare name requires an A or CNAME record in the forward zone
for that name.
