I presume it is pointing to the x.x.x.254 for DNS now? Install DNS on it, then after the zones have replicated to it, add its address(x.x.x.253) as an Alternate on BOTH DCs.

It should create its own NS records, and make itself the Primary Name Server on the SOA record.
