com folder deleted on dns server
Cy 5/8/2007 3:14:01 PM
Hi,
I think I accidentally deleted my folder on the dns server where I can see
what websites are being cached, and I believe it was the com folder.

I was trying to figure out a way to get the folder back that stores website
visits data, is there anyway to get that feature back?

I did try to create the com folder again but it does not store the website
data for some reason.

this is for any website visited external or internal

thanks

I suspect you are just using the wrong view. Go to the console and
select advanced view or something similar I don't have a server in
front of me

Are you saying you deleted the 'com' folder in the cached lookups?

If so, that fine, the cache is all dynamic anyway and is cleared when the
DNS server restarts.

Yes, I did delete the folder in cached lookups, even though the cached
lookups are cleared and dynamic is there a way to get the folder back that
you know of?

Thanks you were right sort of. When I went to the default console manager the
cached lookups were there and I noticed it was a .folder.

I was previously using an all-in-one mmc but it seems that you don't get all
the features when creating a customized mmc with all the snap-ins.

Thanks you led me to the solution.

It will come back on its own as it caches lookups in the com TLD.
