This error suddenly appeared on one of my DCs (64-bit, Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2) a few days ago. No other DCs show this error. The DC still servers up requests fro clients, just cannot access the server via MMC, either on the box or remotely.
The TechNet site is not very helpful, as I have not a clue how to remove and reinstall RPC, especially when it seems to be working fine.
Anybody have any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?
Note: Would not think installing IIS and Windows Virtual Server 2005 R2 would have anything to do with DNS, but this error and problem started after installation. I have since uninstalled Virtual Server.

Technet will not help with reinstalling RPC because reintalling RPC will not take care of this, nor do I think it's possible. This is an idication of another issue, usually can be based on communication or security. What significant event occured right before this appeared? Did you install something, such as a service pack, hotfix, update, or an application? Was something changed recently? ANy other errors in Event logs (any of the logs)?
Also, please post the following to further assist:
1. Unedited ipconfig /all of the DC and a sample client 2. Name of the AD DNS domain name 3. Are updates allowed on the zone in DNS that is based on the name in #2? 4. DO the SRV records appear under the zone name? 5. Run dcdiag /v /fix > c:\dcdiag.txt and post the dcdiag.txt file please 6. Run netdiag /v /fix > c:\netdiag.txt and post the netdiag.txt file please

That will work too, but thought to try lesser means to fix it. Glad you got it going.
