TTL in cahe does not reflect the TTL from the Master DNS
"news.microsoft.com" <patrick.fourny[ at ]aclux.lu> 7/12/2007 1:26:48 PM
Hi,

I have set a zone in our DNS server with a default TTL of 2 days. If i look
on the cached zone on other DNS servers, the record is still using the
default TTL of 24 hours (1 day) !!!
With the debug on, i can see that the TTL in the transmitted record is
effectively 2 days, but the cahed record still have a TTL of one 1 day ...

I've tried this on different w2k3 server with the same result.

Can someone explain this ?

Thanks in advance and regards,

Patrick

The default maximum cached time on Windows DNS servers is 1 day. This is
adjustable with dnscmd in the registry.

Search this document for maxcachettl:
