Using the DNS Management console, right click in the zone, select new
domain, name it with an asterisk(*), then in that new domain, create a new
host, leave the name field blank, and give it the IP you want.
It would be practically impossible to make a wildcard record dynamic.

*.domain.com?
"Bruno" <.> 4/21/2007 9:52:05 PM
Hello,
is there any way to make anything.domain.com points to the same IP?

I'm working on a website that will work like this....
each user will have his username.domain.com.

Let's say the user bruno registers, then he will have bruno.domain.com, can
I make it dynamic or I'll have to manually create records on my dns server?

thanks!

Why?

Perhaps it depends what Bruno means by dynamic -- DNS updates can
definitely be done programatically eg by using the Microsoft DNS WMI
provider, and this may be what he wants.

I also can't see any reason why a wlldcard A record couldn't be updated
over the standard dynamic DNS protocol (RFC 2136), although the built in
Windows dynamic dns code for client ddns wouldn't support it.
