DNS error on Netdiag
Lino767 5/31/2007 7:26:01 PM
Hi;

I upgraded a file server to DC, that would be the 3rd dc in the network
(Dc-3). The plan is to remove the first domain DC-1 or to dcpromo it to
memeber server. The upgrade went fine, however when I do netdiag from the
upgraded file server (DC-3) I get DNS test...pass and [Warninig] The dns
entries for this dc cannot be verified right now on DNS server DC-2 IP
adress, ERROR _ TIMEOUT

When I do netdiag from the other two Dc's (Dc-1 and DC-2) I get no error.

All are w2k3.

Any idea please?

When you run nslookup on dc-3 against the IP of dc-2 do you get DNS
resolution, or does it simply timeout?
If it always times out I would suspect you're having a routing issue or a
firewall blocking 53 UDP (and TCP)

Is this the actual output from nslookup?
The reverse lookup works fine, try:
nslookup -qtype=ns _msdcs.<ADForestName> 192.168.0.18

I appriciate your help. I found out the problem, it was a typo on the IP
address. So silly!
