Looking for a tool OneNote users or developers might be aware of
I am looking for an off the shelf software tool that allows 1) to store
snippets of text, 2) manually index them by topic (category), 3) easily add a
category or subcategory, 4) to regenerate a multilevel hierarchy categories
(as MS Word does), 5) do fast search both of the hierarchy of topics and the

Windows Explorer should be integrated within OneNote
I use Windows Explorer to organize my files within My Documents. Now I use
OneNote to organize all of my notes, web clippings, emails, etc. For the
most part, my file folders in My Documents correspond with the notebooks I
use in OneNote. For example, I have a School folder within My Documents, and

OneNote drawing line length
OneNote seems to have a minimum drawing line length, even with the <Alt> key.
As soo as you start drawing hte line springs to about 5mm in length and can
hot be shorter other than by using the eraser later. Can this be changed?...

Non-upgraded sections: 2 These sections must be upgraded...
....to OneNote 2007 format before they can be searched.
When I search, I get the above warning in the "Page List" pane, but no
indication of which sections the warning is referring to. How can I
identify the sections? How can I upgrade them once I do?
I was running OneNote 2003 and recently upgarde to 2007.

OneNote 2007 with Office XP
In my corporate environment we've got Office XP, but I have got my department
to pay for and install OneNote 2007 (as I think it's great and others are not
quite so enlightened yet!).
However, the 'save as word document' is greyed out. Presumably this is
because my Word isn't 2007 - right ?
How can I get this enabled to output to Word XP - I appreciate that not 100%
of the format...

Positioning picture on OneNote 2007 page.
I'm making my own custom template page in OneNotes 07. I'm trying to position
an inserted picture so that it butts up against the top edge of the page.
Everytime I move the picture to the upper left corner, OneNotes keeps adding
space to the top of the page. I see this done in template pages, how can I do
it? Thanks....

Tags summary problems
Is anyone else having problems with their tags summary results in ON
2007?
Simce inserting some Outlook task flags, the tags summary only
identifies those flags and ignores all other tags that I have used.
I've tried toggling various settings but to no avail so far.
Any ideas?

Shared Notebooks and USB Drives

Multi-page template feature request
Although I am new to OneNote (love it BTW!) - I belive that multi-page
templates would be a useful feature:
e.g. using the "Daily Journal" power-toy to insert a multi-page template
containing non-identical pages such as "Daily Notes", "Work hours per

I have a Motorola MPX220 smartphone with Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

Pasting excel tables into outlook
Is there a way to paste something from Excel (in rows/cols) into an
*existing* OneNote table, and have OneNote automatically paste it into the
target table's existing rows/cols, or automatically add any needed rows/cols
if the target table is too small?
The pasted table seems to want to embed itself as an entire table within a

OneNoteMobile + hardware button options
Hey guys - great app with OneNote Mobile - I'm absolutely stoked over it!
One thing I'd like to do is to be able to hold a button down on my phone
(Imate JasJam - aka Hermes I think) and have it open a new one note message
and start a voice recording. At this stage I've got it set to open OneNote,

Microsoft is it's own worst enemy
All these silly hyperlinks warnings to your own file on your own PC
(LINKS THE USER PUT THERE themselves) is just yet another symptom of
Microsoft's poor execution of end user protection.
Everyone knows that truthful Apple advertisement where the annoying
Vista security floods the end user with requests. It becomes

Is the trial version feature limited?
I have just started to use OneNote 2007 trial, and like many of the features
but I am wondering if my trial version is fully installed.
I cannot find the 'format painter' button
I cannot find a styles palette
I cannot find the help file
The help file is the biggest issue, since I am sure many other features
would be obvious with this.

Renaming notebooks -- but not folders?
I reorganized some of my materials, renamed some notebooks in the process.
Then I closed some notebooks that I didn't need "on hand."
Later, i went back to "open" some notebooks. Turns out, when you rename a
notebook, it doesn't change the folder name on your hard drive. You have no
way of knowing what you might have named your "renamed" notebooks. So you

Import OneNote 2003 files into OneNote 2007 - not through upgrade
I purchased an new OneNote 2007 for my new Vista laptop. I want to leave my
2003 version on my previous laptop. I realize that 2007 is not backward
compatible with 2003 - but I need to ~one time~ move my files from the 2003

Using a OneNote shortcut in the 'Send To' folder
Since it's a program to collecting things together, I put a OneNote shortcut
in my 'Send To' folder, I thought it made sense, so I could send things
straing to OneNote..
However OneNote refuses to open anything that's not a OneNote file. Is there

Can I insert a programmable button into a OneNote 2007 Page ?
Scenario
I have started making a TODO list in OneNote.
Sometimes I want things done like "right now".
I want to be able to "BEEP"/ALERT my secretary's computer when I enter

Syncing ON 2007 & WM5
I installed the upgrade to office 2007 last night and upgraded to Vista
business today. I installed the Onenote feature through the options>onenote
mobile>install onenote mobile to my 6700 pocket pc running WM5 and it works
great but I do not understand how it syncs. Are you supposed to use the
shared notebook and folder sync feature? Seems cumbersome but if that's the
way MS tho...

OneNote Mobile
After having no problems with Onenote 2007 Beta TR etc, I suddenly have
become big problems after installing Vista and fullversion of OneNote 2007.
Problem is actually that the onenote-file on my WM5 phone does not appear
(nor sync) on my PC. Seems that the "OneNote Mobile"-notebook does not
create as it should.
I have tried to reset my WM5 phone and reinstall Onenote mobile, without any...
