Backing up OneNote manually
Hi,
I have OneNote set up to backup to this folder automatically:
C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\backup
But I also want do do a MANUAL backup to my external harddrive.
Do I need to make a copy of this backup folder or of the
C:\Users\myusername\documents\one note notebooks (the default notebooks
location)?...

OneNote network problems
I have (had) a notebook stored on an XP desktop which was shared over a WiFi
link with my parnter's Vista laptop - it worked just fine although - because
of the two different OS involved - the links were somewhat hard-coded. I
recently replaced said desktop with a new Vista-based one. The notebook in
question opens fine on the new desktop but when my partner opens ON on her

Auto-Filing
Question: Is there a way to automaitcally file an unfiled message?
So here is the idea (listen up Microsoft)...
I would like to tag the beginning of my unfiled note with something like:
rd:
w:
f:
Legend
rd - Research / Dev
w: Work
f: Fun
And then have these notes automatically moved to their respective
notebooks.
ANyone know of anything that can help solve this need?

All integration with other office programs are greyed out
I have installed a try-out version of OneNote.
I must been born behind a barn - but I couldn't figure out how to create a
new note book in OneNote. All i found was to create a new page.

Trouble w/ transfer of ON files to new PC
I recently moved to a new desktop PC. In moving the software and data from my
old desktop PC, I tried to find a single notebook file that contained all of
my data, but could only find a group of files with the extension ".one" each
one of which was associated with a section.
I moved those files to the new PC and was able to open them in ON, but I'm

how does one copy whole One Note notebook to another
I want to transfer the entire contents of one One Note notebook to another
computer. Then I want to sinc them so changes in one happen to the other. How
does one do that. Both computers have XP and both have Windows One Note 2007.

unwanted french characters instead of punctuation marks
Whenever I type in punctuation marks like ' " ? in Onenote, instead of the
punctuation marks, I get accented french characters. It doesn't appear to be
a problem in other word applications (or even here, in this forum)
How do I fix this? I've tried resetting the language in OneNote and the
Keyboard, but it doesn't appear to help.

Editing notes - layers do not fit ergo move
Hello,
I am a starter, sorry, but I cannot find a solution on the MS-page or in
help...
After I took notes I want to edit my notes. For instance, I replace text
(escpecially some handwriting with tablet) and delete the original part.
Whenever I do this things within in the same layer move up, but the rest
stays untouched...this is kind of dissappointing.
Is there a workaround? It wo...

Rename "screen clipping taken" page
When I take a screen clipping, the page is in Unfiled Notes and the page is
entitled "Screen Clipping Taken". I can't seem to find how to rename it.
Right clicking on the page title does not reveal that option....

Dissappearing "Tasks" buttons in ON 2007
Has anyone seen an issue with the OneNote 2007 "Tasks" buttons in the
Standard Toolbar ghosting out after a period of time? I have had this happen
three times and the buttons still appear, but are ghosted and cannot be
deleted, or activated.
I can forward a screen clipping of the toolbar, but, ultimately, in order to
get this functionality back, I need to add the button to the toolbar...

Will not convert handwriting to text
I have a vistablet and when i write on OneNote it gives me the option to
convert to text but it does nothing. Vistablet recommends OneNote for its
software. What am I doing wrong? I did make sure that the handwriting was
set for handwriting and not drawing....

Reducing the Size of "Unfiled Notes.one"
Is there anyway to reduce the size of the "unfiled notes.one" file? All my
other onenote files are rather small, but my "unfiled notes.one" file is
4.2gb! This makes it difficult to backup as my backup drive cannot copy files
over 4gb. Is there anyway to redistribute the size of this file to the other
files?...

I am using OneNote to create hyperlinks both to web pages and to pages within
OneNote. The web page links worked fine, but when I tried creating a link to
a page within OneNote, I got a message saying that the operation was canceled
due to restrictions in effect on this computer and that I should contact my

Avoid caching USB stick Notebook sections to local PC
Is there a way to avoid the cashing of notebook section located on a USB
stick to the local PC. For example if this section contains sensitive
information, when I remove the USB stick, I want no trace left on the PC.
I understand that setting a password could prevent access to the cached
section, but this is not considered an option.
