script for MS Word to change Workgroup template location
An apology if this has been asked before. I am an admin for a workgroup with 20 clients running Office 2003. I would like to have a script that changes each client MS Word file location for Workgroup template without having to physically carry this work out on each machine. This script can be either emailed to each user as an attachment or what would be better is run from a central server...

Word and netowrk path to templates
Hello! I'm using Word from Office 12 Beta 2. Maybe I'm blind, but I cannot find a place, where I can type a path to my company templates. For example: Word 11 in preferences had a place. I typed there \\myserver\templates. Then in templates I had all .dot's (about 40). Now I can only add one by one. Is there any possibility to add only path? Leszek ...

Page setup automation
We just got a new printer in the office. Some of our old documents, however, have settings for an old printer that conflict with the new printer (eg. paper bins. The old printer plain paper was Drawer 2 and the new one is drawer 5). Whenever one of the old documents are opened, the old printer drawer 2 setting is still there instead of the new printer setting of drawer 5 (plain paper)...

*Why the pain?*
Hello Wide Windows World, You know, I was at the Genius Bar of an Apple Store the other day. I own three Macs, and knew nothing about networking them all together (other than how to receive an AirPort signal on each. In Windows speak, that's WiFi - 802.11 b, or 802.11 g). I was absolutely flabbergasted to learn that within less than ten minutes, I got a full lesson on how to networ...

Word Freezes when Opening for first time
In Word 2003 whenever a user logs in for the first time it will lockup the application for awhile and then eventually it will start to work again. After that initial lockup the program will open up fine from that point on. If you delete or rename the normal.dot the same thing will happen. It seems like its locking up when either searching for the normal.dot or created a new normal.dot...

file open in memory
Question: I have users accessing word files on a server. They open the document to view it. Then close it out by clicking on the red X. The file seems to stay open the ~filename stays there and doesn't close out even though the file has been closed from the users workstation? Any reason why? The file exists on a Windows 2003 server and the user has Windows XP and Office XP Tha...

Word documents are slow to open after retiring Template server
After retiring a Server containing our Word Templates our Word document take 5 - 10 minutes to open. I originally tried a script to change the template path, but this didn't work as I have discovered that the Path to the workgroup templates is via a mapped drive and is correctly pointing to the new server. I have verified this in the header of the document (opening it in notepad). Some...

Restrictions of Net broadband
I have a intranet at home with 5 computers. I use XP Pro SP2 and a Netgear Router model MR814V2. My provider gives me 2 Mb band.
