Applying Templates

It was my thought or understanding that one could apply a template to a
document which would reflect, among other things, the established page layout
of the template; including margins; headers and footers; graphics and styles.

Margin marks or crop marks
I'm receiving what appears to be margin marks or crop marks at the corners of
my page. I do not have any other language turned on besides English. Can

Repeating Text
I am trying to figure out how to "repeat text". Basically i have a legal
document that has a clients name appear numerous times in it. I was
wondering if there is a way to type in the clients name once in the
beginnning and then it populates automatically wherever it needs to in the
rest of the document?? is the only way to do it by using "find and replace"?
or is there a formula func...

Modify Footnote Style
In Word 2003, in the Styles and Formatting pane, the Footnote style is
listed at the top where you can modify it, but it is not listed below
where you have the option to Update to Match Selection. I prefer
changing styles in the document and then updating. Is there a reason
the Footnote style is not listed?

Why did the file size change?
After making some format adjustments to a document, it went from about 3 MB
to over 13 MB. Anyone know why? Nothing was added to the document and all the
same graphics are there. Thanks!...

Chapter name in footer
I am writing a book, and I would like to include the chapter name in the
footer. I know how I can do this by creating a separate footer for each
section and inserting a cross reference to the heading text. But I can only
do that if I use a separate footer for each chapter. Can I use a single
footer for the entire book and somehow include the chapter name for each
section in the footer...

how do I suppress blank space at end of pages
When I open a new document, the header and footer aren't shown in Print
Layout. I just show the header/footer then unshow them and the normal view is
restored with the appropriate space at the top and bottom of the page. The
trouble is, my partner likes this (initial) view because it doesn't show al
the whitespace between the end of the text on a page and the beginning of the
next page. ...

Insert picture
Used to be able to insert pictures and format them with no problems. Now,
when I insert a picture (a) I can't see it (b) when I click on where it has
been inserted and then format, I haven't got the option to format.
I've obviously switched something on or off, but haven't got a clue what!...

Page numbering in sections
Is there any way of inserting page number of pages e.g page 1 of 6 in each
section, I keep getting the total number of pages in the document in each
section, and I just want the pages in each section to be counted seperatly,
eg 1 of 6, 1 of 10 etc

Outline numbering in Word 2007
Has ANYBODY figured out yet how to get outline numbering to work in Word
2007. I have a lot of documents that need the following format:
1.0 Heading 1
1.1 Heading 2
1.1.1 Heading 3
etc...
I have struggled for hours with this. Help is no help. Support couldn't
help. I can only conclude that Word 2007 no longer supports this style,
unless some smarty-pants out there has it figured o...

How do I center a title and not the whole document?
I cannot figure out how to center ONE LINE of text (say a TITLE) and not the
whole document...I either get to align- left, right, justify, or center the

how do i preserve page orientation after deleting a section break
I have created a word document, first page portrait 2nd page landscape, with
differing margins etc. The document has created a 3rd blank page at the end,
and when I select the section break at the end of the 2nd page to delete the
blank 3rd page, the 2nd page reverts to portrait and my margin settings are
lost. How can I delete the 3rd blank page, whilst still preserving the 2
different ...

Counting 1 page as 2
Word 2003, SP2.
Is there a way to count each page as 2? At my client’s request, anytime we
use an 11x17 page in our documents we have to count each page as 2 and do the
page numbering as “Page 1/2†to denote that this page counts as two.
I can certainly accomplish this with section breaks at each page, but this
is not easily done when my 11x17 pages are 1 continuous table where ...

outline level 2 promoted to level 1 when printed
I'm working on a document in outline view, and everything is fine until I
switch to print or normal view, then level 2 in the outline is promoted to
level 1 and printed as such. Anyone know what's going on and how to correct
it?...

My margins are missing
Im in word and my margins have just dissapeared. The top margin and the side
margins have gone. I keep reading about checking the white space box but I
have done that and i still cant see the margins on the page?

Page margins
I have a large document with many sections. When I try to set the margins
for any section or for the whole document from the Page Setup dialog, I get
the following message:
"Teh settings you chose for the left and right margins, column spacing, or
paragraph indents are too larger for the page width in some sections."
I get this message no matter what settings I specify or what section...

New Word 2007 docs always open with Calibri font despite template
I'm stumped. If I open a new Word document by going through the Start Menu
(e.g., Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Word 2007) the
document will open with all the settings (e.g., font, font size, paragraph
settings, etc.) I have saved in the normal.dotm template. HOWEVER, if I open

While temping for a colleague, I created a document which serves as the
outline of a textbook chapter. Having finally created a set of styles that

Changing Font Size/Type in Multiple Word Documents
I have to change the font type and Size from Times NR 12 to Tahoma 10 in
about 3000+ documents.
I have tried to search for a solution to save me some time and to make
my life easier.
Is there an easy way round to do this, using SQL or something similar.
