Margins outside printable area
Having transferred Word 2000, my documents and my old printer to a new
computer, I'm now being told that "One or more margins are set outside
the printable area of the page". The problem is with the bottom
margin, which I've long had set at 0.9". Word now wants to change it
to 1.25". Thing is, nothing has changed apart from the PC and OS. My

Printing to PDF
when printing to adobe pdf from msword the document seems to be scaled, we've
checked that no scaling options are checked. the document is just formatted
different when selecting any other printer or the adobe printer. when
printing the pdf it seems to be scaled to 95%, the margins, footer and header
are also not the correct size. ie. 1" margins are 1.125" and header and
footer are .25 l...

footnote numbering
I need to make the footnote numbers on each page different (i.e. 1-6 on page
one, 7-12 on page 2 and 13-18 on page three). If I do odd/even pages
different, the first two are ok but the third is a duplicate of the first.
Sections doesn't seem to help either. I can edit them manually but when I
change one, it changes all the pages. Any help you can give me is greatly
appreciated!!...

Word 2007 and using Paragraph format marks
I have 3 computers that are running identical systems, Windows XP
Professional SP3. They all have Office 2007 loaded on them.
Question #1:
Why is when they turn on pargraph formating the document will change the
number of lines showing at the end of the page?
For Example: If there was 12th bullet point on the end of the page before

How do I get rid of an unwanted left-hand margin in an endnote?
As I was typing footnote 97, an automatic left-hand margin of perhaps 5
spaces appeared and won't go away (for that note). The next note is back to
normal formatting. I tried changing from web to print view, but it was still
there. I suspect there may be a hidden character that is doing it, and there
used to be a "reveal" (control r, I think) mode that would show it. But that

How do I allow editing in a header in a protected form/document?
I'd like the users to be able to type information into the header on the
second page (such that the header ibnfo carrries forward). The page 2 header
is in its very own section already. Each time I apply protection to the

Why do all my set styles go away after saving my document?
We recently changed to Windows Vista. In Microsoft Word, after exhaustively
creating my custom styles and saving - I reopen the document to see all the
styles reverting to other styles. The document was created in Word 2003 and
I am now using Word 2007. I imported a saved template, tweaked it, and
saved. But...my style changes are not saving! Help!...

Problems with absolute positioning
I am trying to create a template document that will be used in a merge
operation. The merged data will be printed on a pre-printed form. To
get all data on exactly the right spot, I use absolute positioning.
However, absolute doesn't seem to be that absolute. When I enter 2.5
cm and option Page in the window Advanced Layout, the text box starts
at about 3.7 cm. A text box that is printed lowe...

Printing Odd pages on the right.
Hey all;
Need help getting the pages in my duplexed document to print where i want
them. here is the scenario.
Multi page document with cover page that i want to duplex print.
When i click print it places page 1 on the back of the cover page (not where
it should be).
So, I added a section break that starts on the first odd page. looks good

Making Custom Dictionaries More Accessible?
I work with Latin texts and want to add works to my customized Latin
dictionary. I know of only one way to access this dictionary (i.e., Tools
menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar tab etc). Is there

Stop Review Toolbar from Appearing
Every time I open an MS word doc 2003, the Reviewing toolbar automatically
opens as well.
How do I prevent this from happening? This also occurred on a word file I
sent to a colleague. He opened the document and one could see the comments in

Vertical alignment next to images
I have inserted an image (actually an equation) and I want it to "flow" with
the text. When I write some text next to it (actually a list number), it is
aligned to the bottom. I want it to be aligned at the top of the image. In
HTML this is done by <img align=top>. How can it be done in Word 2003?...

tab and indents
I have created heading 1 to 4 with automatic prefix (extra numbers in the
heading) Now I am trying to get the indents and tabs correct. I cannot set
them in the list as the number in front of the tab is different in each case.
This means it might need to be at 1.5 cm one time and 1.8 or 2 the next. Is
