Confirmation then,
So at Heading 1, I wrote in text the term "Section" and let the number index
itself, so the next time I wanted to you Heading again, it automatically
indexed the number correctly. It evidently knew to look at the same level,
because there was no other higher level to look to.
But this is not so on Heading 2. On heading 2, I texted in a number before
the decimal, so it could not index ...

Getting Word to remember the return address on envelopes
I use Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition, with Windows XP Home.
I have my Outlook Contacts set up as address book.
I have a variety of document templates set up in Word.
Every time I print an envelope in Word, it has forgotten the default
return address. I have to go through the whole routine of telling it
which profile to use, which Outlook address book to look in and which
return...

Using 2003 after upgrade to 2007
I currently use Word 2003. I just purchased an upgrade to Word 2007. When I
install the upgrade, will there be any way to leave 2003 intact on my
machine (in addition to the new 2007), so as to be able to use 2003 while

How can I get different names on each label?
I have tried creating labels using Publisher and also Word by merging my data
from Excel. Each time I get a page of 30 of the same name instead of 30
different names. I saw all 30 names the same on the print preview but tested
by printing as someone suggested and I still got 30 of the same name on each
page. HELP!...

Blank page layout..
I must have inadvertently clicked on something and I cannot restore this -
Whenever word was opened and a new blank page was opened, the white new page
would be in the middle of the screen with a good chunk of grey at either
side. All my saved documents are like this, but now I've opened up Word to
create another document and the white new page where you type, is massive
with hardly any...

Forms ??
I know forms can be saved as .pdf files and if formatted properly can be
filled in on-line then printed locally. This is great for already prepared
forms. But our forms are simple word documents, and I do not want to
purchase and learn Acrobat!
Is there a way to use Word to make forms which can be made available on our
website (or on a local machine, or on disk) so people can fill them in ...

Copying Excel worksheet (with header and footer) into Word
Is there a way to bring in the existing header and footer in my MS
Excel 2003 worksheet into the MS Word document I'm trying to create?
The issue is with the header and the footer. I can bring over the
worksheet, but the header and footer doesn't come along. Can I make

Mysterious changes in new hyperlink - backslash becomes forward slash
Existing hyperlinks work ok but news I try to create are changing their
formatting after I create them.
Correct file name displayed at time manual selection of target file (in a
subordinate directory called "testing") in "Edit hyperlink" window is:
testing\Quiz number 2.doc
After closing the "Edit window" when I try to activate the link I get error
msg "Cannot open specified file."

Need Pop up with additional questions based on checkbox
One of our users has a Word form with form fields and check boxes. They want
to be able display a series of fillable fields if the answer to a given

Are H3 and Heading 3 always italics? Table of Contents
(1) I've not been able to get rid of the italics at this level. Is it
designed that way?
(2) Also, when inserting the table of contents and then Options, I want to
use H1 H2 H3, but only H1 is there and I have to check and rank H2 and H3,
then uncheck Heading 1, 2, 3. How do I change this?

Where are Symbol/Formating marks & Defintions?
The last line of my paragraphs when full justification is on, ends in a
symbol that looks like a backward "L" with a arrowhead on the base pointing
to the left....kind of like what is on the enter key, but it instead of a
paragraph mark I get the character.
I suspect it is why the last line of a paragraph distributes the words in

Have Office 2k on two systems., including Word 2k.
On one system when I open Word there is a row at the bottom that has page #,
section ,etc.etc.
On this sytem/program is does not and I can't find the correct toolbar,

Trouble with IncludeText and RD to assemble docs into one large fi
I have a 200-page doc that has had numerous formatting problems as I've been
creating it. (It's less than 6MB, FYI.)
I thought I would try to break the 15 chapters of this doc into 15 separate

Where can I find COMPLETE steps to save to disc?
What are the exact steps to save a file to disc? I have a new laptop
w/windows XP, and follow directions, but files do not copy. Do you have to
format every disc before you use it? I never see temporary files message/copy
to CD. Should formatting take 15 minutes EVERY time? Why aren't any
instructions complete, step by step, and include DISC must BE FORMATTED? I
am so frustrated.........
