Word 2007 - Table of Contents
Client has created a TOC that will be linking to another file. She checked
and Update fields under print>options is not selected, Update automatic links
on Open is not selected. She has tried in draft view, no difference. As
soon as she hits print preview the fields try to update and she gets errors
on the fields in the document.

"Directory" in Mail Merge?
In the Mail Merge Wizard, I see a Directory word appear. After merge it
splits pages between entries. If this is the default setting, what purpose
does it serve. Can this behaviour be changed? Or does MS have some different
meaning in mind for Directory?

Insert multiple rtf files and retain headers/footers
I am trying to append a Word document with multiple rtf files, all having
different headers/footers, using Insert/Object/From File. I am inserting the
rtf file between 2 Next Page Section breaks. Sometimes the header & footer
carries thru to the Word doc, and sometimes it does not.
Does anyone know if there is anything different I should be doing using rtf
files?

Office configures every time Word is launched
Hi everyone. Every time I launch Word appears a window telling me that Office
Enterprise 2007 is configuring. This only happens with Word. Excel,
PowerPoint and Outlook are OK.
I let it run a couple of times, but now I cancel the process as soon as the
notificaction window is displayed. Once Word is running it works fine.
My laptop is brand new, Office was preloaded (in Spanish), so I ...

Word takes 10 minutes reconfiguring every time a file is opened
Every time I open a file after booting up, Word take about 10 minutes
configuring itself. Once it's up and running it seems to be OK.
Is there any way to make it remember that it's been installed already?...

Appearance of tiles w/ track changes
I just got a new computer at work (XP SP2, Word2003) and with Track Changes I
now have these summary boxes coming up when the mouse hovers over an edit
showing the name of the reviewer, the time the edit was made, the type of
edit, and what was inserted, deleted, etc. I have it set to show edits &
comments by reviewer by color. These tiles are extremely annoying and I
didn't have them ...

locked merge fields
I have set up a 3 page document with merge fields in text boxes so they
"land" on the page in specific areas which correspond to a preprinted form.
When I send to print I get an error that says something like "Word found
locked merge fields" and "Word cannot update locked fields". What are locked
fields and how did they get that way? What does it mean that it cannot
update locked fiel...

Office 2007 - Track Changes Reviewer Names
In Office 2007, we used the "Prepare" menu on a document to remove personal
information and properties from our tracked changes. Subsequently, we now
want to restore the ability to have individual author names associated with
tracked changes in the document. How do you turn off this security setting?
We know how to do it in 2003. We do not know the comparable setting is in
2007.

HYPERLINK PROBLEM

When I open a document, links come up {www.website.com HYPERLINK }
In addition, inserting page numbers does not work. Instead it comes up {
PAGE }

reset cursor character in Word
My cursor has changed from the normal long skinny vertical line to a short
stubby fatter bar, harder to see. How do I reset the default character? (I
had this problem several years ago, found the answer here, but can no longer

Including para numbers in hyperlink
I am creating hyperlinks in a Word document to link to other sections of the
document. I have used automatic numbering and would like the para numbers to
appear in the hyperlink. At the moment only the para name appears. How can I
get the para number to be included as well?...

Word 2007 corrupt file
I have a file I created in Word 2007 that when I try to open it says, The
Office Ope XML file xxxxxxxx cannot be opened because there are problems with
the contents. When I hit ok the message says word found unreadable content in

Word.INK
For some reason I am now unable to open Word (which has worked fine for
years) When I do so the computer tells me it is searching for and cannot
find the .ink file. I have tried reinstalling Works 7 from the disc I have
but this does not appear to have worked. Any ideas?

How to set Word Page colors separately for each side

Microsoft Word 2002
When I attempt to load and use Word I receive a error message that says that
"Word is not registered to the current user" and to "reinstall Word". .
However if I load MS Works Launcher and then select Word it loads and I am
able to use it. The problem is that Word is a default for word documents that

Delete a blank page
The second page of my word file prints out a blank page.
In print preview, the blank page is shown but in regular print view it does
not show this blank page.
How can I find, select, and delete this blank page?

Spelling AutoCorrect is disabled
My spelling AutoCorrect got disabled, and it won't turn back on through the

Integrating Word 2007 and Stamps.com
I have been searching for information on performing a mail merge and using
stamps.com for postage and all I found as answers to questioners was some
snippy responses that the questioner should ask the postage provider.
I do intend to ask Stamps.com but I need some guidance from Microsoft as
well.
I would assume that Microsoft knows Word 2007 better than does Stamps.com.

Keeping Word always on Top
I am a video court recorder and transcribe at home. The software is
installed on my computer and I operate it with a foot pedal. Whenever I
remove my foot from the pedal, I am no longer to type unless I click the
document and this slows me down. Is there a way to continue typing even when
I am not activating the foot pedal or not?
