Adding to the character map
How can I add new symobls in to the character map.
I work with a lot of engineering symbols that I have to add to my reports.
Examples would be the symbols for True Position, Run Out, Total Run Out,
ETC...
How can I get these added to the Character map, or can I find them on line
some where.

Cannot open or save docx
I use Word 2000 on Windows XP Professional.
About 6 months ago I installed the Compatibility Pack for the Office 2007
system.
Until now, I have had no problems opening the Word 2007 documents that
people would occasionally send me. Today, I tried to open a Word 2007

Spellcheck of Word Comments
Is there a way to suppress the spellchecking of comments in Word and still
spellcheck the rest of the document? And please don't suggest I select the
comment text and exclude it - I am looking for a setting that would apply to
all comments in all documents....

Invisible insertion point / i-beam
Using Word 2004 for Mac, and have suddenly found that the insertion point is
invisible when mousing over words. Don't know how to fix it. Looks like if
I could only make it black, it'd be fine....

Clip art
When I tried to insert clip art into my document, I got this message:
clip organizer cannot complete the operation. Interface not registered.
Error code ox 80040155.
anyone know what I should do in order to use my clip art?

Useless report after printing?
We have a system running Windows XP Pro, with an Epson CX11NF network printer.
After printing a document from Word 2003, the printer feeds a blank sheet
and then prints out a report page with document filename, directory, title,
etc., etc..)
It only does this with Word 2003: Notepad, WordPad, QuickBooks, and other
applications do not print out the report.

File Name and Path in Footers
When sending a document as an attachment via email, the file name and path in
the footer changes from the actual file name and path the document resides to
the C drive\Documents and Setting\the user's name\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files. Does anyone know how to keep the actual File Name and Path
to remain in the footer? Thank you....

Tables Properties|Cell|Options|Fit Text
Using Word 2003 does the "Fit Text" option cause text to shrink on overflow?

TOC won't update
I have my TOC 1, 2, and 3 set to normal. I have styles applied to my
Headings 1, 2, and 3. When I "Select All", click F9, and choose to update
the TOC, nothing happens. I've successfully used this method for
years....what could I be doing wrong today? Thanks!

How to remove the display of right angles at each corner of the pa
There is one angle at each corner of the page. This is in Word 2003. How do I
remove them? They aren't text boundaries, and there isn't any other language
other than english being used. How do I get rid of these things?...

Jump to TOC in 2003 vs 2007
In Word 2003 there was an option when working with the table of contents to
temporarily place a quick "jump to" command on the toolbar.
I cannot find out how to get back to the TOC when I am deep in a large
document in 2007. Home does not work and paging up and down takes forever.
Does anyone remember that option, does it exist in 2007? I sure cannot find
it.

how do you turn the automatic spell check on?
The automatic spell check function appears to have turned off. How do I get
it back? have followed the help instructions through proofing with no
success. The hide spelling message box is clear....

Word 2007 page numbers in the TOC
If I choose to format my page numbers: - 1 -. then the spaces and dashes
appear in the TOC, is there a way to format the page numbers that way but
have them display in TOC as 1, 2, etc?...

VSTO Add-in: Hiding and Showing Word Ribbon Control from VBA

Word 2007 Restrict Formatting and Editing Options Grayed Out
When I click the Protect Document button from the Developer ribbon and select
Restrict Formatting and Editing, the pane shows but all the options are
grayed out. How can I make these options available again?...

"Restrict formatting and Editing" disabled
I can't modify "formating restrictions" or "editing restrictions" on a form
in the Developer tab>Protect Document. They and the "Start enforcement"
checkbox are greyed and disabled. Any thoughts on how I can enable them so I
can lock the sheet?

Correcting Words Mis-spelled Because of Numb4ers
I have discovered that my Word doesn't recognize words like: Imme4diately,
Sei9zure, and Idio5t (long story)
Clearly they are mis-spelled words because of the type-o numbers included in
them but Word doesn't see them as errors or catch them on spell check. How
can I fix this? Do I have to add each example to the dictionary or is there
an en-masse solution to recognize number-spelling...

Increasing Document Size - 20+Mb
Word 2003:
My original document started out at 88 pages and just under 9Mb. This is a
living document and is being updated, added to or deleted from on a regular
basis. The document is a policy & standards manual. My document is now over
20Mb in size, taking longer to load, longer pauses for auto-save, etc.
The number of pages has actually decreased from 88 to 84 over the past year.

I tidigare versioner av Word (före 2007) visades, i Normalvy, inte
radbrytningar så som de skulle bli vid utskrift. Detta kunde jag använda för
att skriva ren oformaterad brödtext och se hela texten även om jag gjorde
fönstret mycket smalt. Ändring av fönstrets bredd ändrade radbrytningarna
dynamiskt.

One of the most annoying things about Word... updating fields
Hello
I know I am not alone in finding the way Word does not update field
information frustrating. An example is to create a field based on
advanced document properties. The best way to update the entire
document I have found is to Ctrl A then F9. But this doesn't
completely work because Ctrl A does not select text in headers and
footers.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem....

Automating SUM function in a table in a form
I have created a form using a table where I enter numbers in a column. At the
bottom of a column I have pasted a SUM(ABOVE) function which should
automatically add up the column and give me the result. I need help
