Size of Doc gets bigger even when I reduce number of pages
Hi,
I have been working on a document for two days now. It started at 78 pages
and 214KB and I have now reduced it to 63 pages but the size of the document
has increased to 261KB. I haven't really done any formatting changes or
anything like that where I could see it making a big difference in file size.
Anyone know what the issue is or how I can remedy it? Thank you!...

Adding a received "stamp" to a doc
Now that I am receiving more documents electronically, I would like to be
able to quickly and efficiently put a "Received" w/date stamp on the docs. I
can, of course, print them and then stamp them as I did when they came in the
mail but if there is a quick way to do this before I print them I would
really like to know. I am looking to have it in color rather than b & w.

20081226: Can't get styles into a template
I created a document (abc.doc) that has many new styles. It was based on the
global Normal.dot. I save the document as a .dot file (abc.dot), because I
want to copy those styles into a new file (def.doc, which is based on
xyz.dot). I got to Templates and Add-Ins, etc., as the Help instructs. When
I open the new .dot file (abc.dot), it only list the styles from the original
Normal.dot...

Rule not showing up
I cannot get the ruler to show up. I went to Word Options -- Advanced --
Display -- checked "Show vertical rule in Print Layout view", as the
instructions call, but still cannot see the ruler. I tried to uncheck then
check again and the problem persists. Any help? Please e-mail your answer to

Hedder Problem Losing Page Breaks When Saving New Name
I am using Word 2003 with an XP operating system
I am preparing a short story for publication. There is a title page
that does not have a number. Then there is a first page that has a
number but the number is not shown. The last name and page number is
suppose to start on the second page.
I got help and now it works fine unless I save under a different

Word 2007: how do I customize sort order of Quick Styles gallery?
If I alphabetize using the Styles window Options or Manage Style functions my
Styles window list follows those commands but the Quick Styles gallery
remains sorted in Recommended order. Thanks!...

Set file type default for Word?
I'm used to using Word on Windows XP (2003-07). Now that I'm stuck with
Vista on my laptop, I'm sick of having to bypass the "wps" file type every

very basic label question
I have a very simple question to which, apparently, there seems no simple
answer. I have about 200 names in outlook categorized as "christmas list."
All I want to do is print Avery 5160 (or something similar) labels with those
addresses on labels. Apparently Word must be used for this (why, I don't
know). But when I start working my way through mail merge to accomplish

How do I zip two files together, 1 audio 1 text
For my O.U.course, I need to send an audio file and a text file zipped
together to send as one file. I have followed instructions, ( ctrl-left click
on first one file, then left click on the other. then right click on one of
them and send to zipp folder) all I can get is one folder in the zipped mode,
if I do the same with the other it goes into a different zipped folder.

the backspace key is removing several words instead of one letter

how to change dictionary

page numbering
I would like to begin numbering my pages starting from 1 on page 4 of my word
document. I am not sure how to do this. I also want to have the page numbers
on the far bottom right side of the page beyond the text margins (like almost
in the bottom right corner). Not sure how to do this either because I can't
seem to drag and drop the "Header/Footer" box where I want. Please help.

Template that picks up current date when I open it everytime.
I want create a generic template in Word. Everytime I open it, I would like
the current date to be picked up and blown in. I dont want to have to enter
the date each and every time I want to create a new form from this template.
