Word 2003 Stub to Word 2007 file
We are in the middle of a Word 2003 to Word 2007 conversion process.
We have an enterprise application where we have linked a number of the
old Word 2003 files and when the file is converted the link is now
broken, due to the change in file extension (DOC to DOCX).
Is it possible to have a Word 2003 document act as a stub file which
forwards the user to the DOCX file? This way, we don't ha...

2007_Batch Conversion Wizard ???
Folks...
Our administrator has canned Lotus Word Pro for our office...for good.
Now...one of our digital dinosaurs has hundreds of Word Pro docs (*.lwp's)
that need to be converted to the Word format (*.doc or *.docx). I was hoping
that Word 2007 had a batch conversion wizard...but I can't seem to find it
(or any info on the MS tech site beyond the wizard in v2003).
Can this be accom...

Converting Word .doc files without Word.
I do not have Word installed on my computer, but people send me .doc files. My
usual word processing program does a fair job of opening them, except for images.
Is there any simple way to convert these .doc files to .rtf (preferably) or .pdf
files? I know one on-line site which will convert to .pdf, but it is limited in
the size of files that it will accept.

Converting columns to Word 2008
We have some documents that are used as templates for various
documentation. They were written in Outlook and saved as .DOC files.
When I opened them with Word 2008, their format was changed. I could
get close by clicking on the Print Layout button, and I saved one as a
..docx file and as a .dotx file. They now open with the correct
layout - but we had some column entry (a few lines be...

When I use the Microsoft Reader add-in in Word 2003, the text at the far

characters that are not visible. Some half characters can be seen at the edge
too, it's not always full characters that are missing....

Word 2003 viewer with update for docx files not working properly.
If I open the program and opens a docx document from the file menu,
everything works fine.
If I double click on a docx file I get an error telling that the file could
not be found.
This bug has been around for a long time, I think, since I found some old
posts indicating the problem a long time ago.
Anyone knows a fix for this ?

sending a doc as email attacment in word 2007?

in earlier versions. To put it simply, the "send" button is still in what
is now the "file menu" but the button is now grayed out and non-functional.

Needed WordPerfect Feature needed for Word - Help
Hello all,
One of our biggest problems we are facing moving away from WordPerfect 7 to
Word 2007 is a feature that WordPerfect has dealing with form fields that as
of yet, can't see that Word 2007 has and buying an add-in currently isn't an
option.
This feature being with WordPerfect, you can call up a dialog box to fill in
all fields. Something really close to Excel's Form data entry f...

Using .docx files
I just upgraded to Word 2007. I notice it defaults to save files as .docx.
I would guess that won't be useable by previous versions of Word. But I
note that you can elect to save as a Word 97-2003 compatible document. I
would assume that saves it as a .doc file.
Word 2007 takes a little getting used to but I'm beginning to like it. It
would seem the smart thing to do is to use the d...
