Assigned To / Initiated By
Still trying to get the foundations in place for a really solid database.
When setting up a new Account I see fields for 'Assigned To' and 'Initiated
by'. Can anyone explain the difference between the two.
If I wanted to allocate an Account to a salesman, which one would I be
better off using? Or am I better of using a Category?
If it helps to have more information, things I may wan...

Unable to initialize this form in BCM
Hello!!
I know that there is other posts with this problem, but I think that I have
a bigger problem and it doesn't fix going on Tools / Options / Others /
Advanced options / Customized Forms / Forms Administration and clearing the
cache (I've proved yet), I have deleted forms too, I have unistalled BCM and
installed again (twice), but the message "unable to ...." was there !!

BCM Office Addin - Office 2003
I have not seen this issue addressed within the forums. I am getting the BCM
Office Addin error but I am running Office 2003. Office 2007 was preloaded
when I first bought my computer, but I have since uninstalled that version
for 2003. I have tried downloading the various files that everyone has
recommended, but have had no luck in getting that error message to go away.
Thanks for t...

Remote users can open BCM SQL DB, but not local user?
I've got BCM 2007 configured to use my SQL server (installed on a server) as
its database. Each of the workstations can connect properly. I'm even using
the new setup wizard for BCM 2007 that helps with this - it works great.
However - I needed to install BCM on the server itself - but after BCM is
installed, and during the initial setup (when you choose "Advanced" and give
it the name ...

Can't connect BCM to database
I'm at a loss to explain it, although I suspect there is a simple explanation
that I am simply not seeing.
I have MS SQL Server as the BCM database on a server machine. My clients can
connect to it just fine. I used the new "Business Contact Manager for Outlook
2007 Database Tool" to set it up and it worked great.
However, when I install Outlook (2007) and BCM (2007) on the server mach...

Unable to connect to local SQL 2005 Database
I used the BCM 2007 Database tool to create a new database using the
MSSQLSERVER named instance and I shared the database. I am unable to connect
to the database on the local machine but don't have any problem connecting to
the database from another computer. I am using the follow
%MACHINENAME%\MSSQLSERVER,1433 string to connect and it works fine except on
the local machine.

I am using OUTLOOK 2007 WITH BCM.

Does anyone know of a good reference book (or training course) specific to BCM?
These discussion groups are great, but I am trying to find my way around the

effective way possible, and can't help but think there will be lots of
opportunities I am missing.

Installing Business Contact Manager 2003 on Vista
--
Rod H
Can you please explain how I can reinstall Business Contact Manager for
Outlook 2003 onto a PCV running Vista Business Edition. (I did have it all
running OK, but then had to do a complete system restore.) Now BCM won't
install onto Vista from the original CD, and I can't install SP4 (which
presumably has the Vista compatibility fix) without haveing BCM already
installed....

goldmine dbase 6.7 to BCM3
There's lots of mentions of Act! guys trying to move over to BCM and
there's an import routine for that, esp. detailed in the latest BCM blog
post. But what about people with Goldmine Business Contact Manager, esp.
the dbase version 6.7 which has been discontinued, and you're gonna get a
lot of defections from disgruntled customers.
Goldmine can sync contacts ( basic fields ) with outl...

Voting Button Response - Tracking not working as expected
Last night I sent out an All company (~400 employees) an impt. policy change
that I needed everyone to vote on. I used company wide distribution lists to
send out the message (vs. 400 individual email addresses). The first 17
responses came in and I could see the names of the individuale who voted and
responded. This morning when the next several hundred responses came in I
could onl...

importing Act data to BCM

The problem is that it did not import the user defined fields that we created in ACT. the only way I have been able to import them is using formats other that .bcm. But this doesn't import the History and creates a duplicate instead of updating the contact. Any ideas on how to import BOTH--the history and the custom fields. Any hel...

individuals as accounts in BCM
I'm a solo lawyer, trying to use BCM to keep track of clients. BCM seems to
default to "accounts" as organizations; however, many of the clients that I
do business with are individuals, and I'm not sure how feasible it is, or
even if I should, set up individual clients as "accounts."
Looks like, if I do, there will be an "account" and a "contact" that are the
same person; or, I could jus...
