Report Fields
In the absence of a report that does absolutely what I want, I'm struggling
to design the next best thing. I can customise an activity (by business
contact) report to show any comments that have been recorded against that
customer (business notes, phone logs etc), by inserting a field. However, I
can't get the field to display anything other than the first fifteen or so of
the characte...

Bulk change "active" to "inactive"
I'm not sure how it happened; maybe in connection with Quickbooks data
migration; anyway, I ended up w/ all my business contacts "active," and I
need to make about 600 of them "inactive." Is there any convenient way to do
this?

Contacts in BCM as versus Outlook
Please help me with the following questions;
1. I can import individual contacts from Outlook into BCM but not
Distribution Lists- is that correct?
2. Distribution lists are not permitted with in BCM? if they are please tell
me how?
(for example if I wanted to just send "Nashville" contacts a marketing
campaign how do I just select them from all other contacts?)

Backup of BCM Database
I run automatic backup software at night of all data that has changed. Each
night I close Outlook 2003 so that copies can be made. I have found out
that BCM stays tied up because the SQL server is still running. Does anyone
have a resolution that would allow me to make a backup without stopping the
SQL server?

Can a Mail Merge of a Word Doc be added to all contacts in Outlook
I would like to know if there is some way when I produce a Doc .ie letter
from Word, if I can have all my contacts associated with the Mail Merge to
have a note placed in the activity tab to record the letter sent?...

XP Profesional BCM 2007 needs to share DB hosted on a Vista Ultima
Someone has gone through the hassle to connect a shared DB on a Vista
Ultimate with a BCM 2007 installed on a XP Professional. Until now, I have
tried every option I know of. Right now it is set this way.
Both are configured on the same Workgroup
Both firewalls are turned off
Vista BCM can access the remote database although it is hosted on the same
computer.
XP can use shared folders ...

Automatic Contact Manager From Excel Report
I have exported a report from Crystal into Excel and I want to be able to
create an automatic e-mail to a recipient(s) based on a date field in Excel.
Let's say that I have a date field that lists 05/20/2007 as the reminder date
in an Excel column. Can this be brought into Outlook's e-mail or calendar

Error: "Project of that name already exists" though I can't see it
When I try and create a new project for an account I get an error message "A
project with this name already exists," although no such project shows in the
project list, not under any view. What is up here, and how do I fix it?

Project Task Questions
This might actually be construed as feedback but I aslo want to make sure I
am clear of everything:
1. Project Tasks only show on the Project task list, regardless of who they
are assigned too, unless Flagged with a reminder and then they show up on all
users To Do List.
2. They will also show up in the history of the Primary Link to contact.
This doens't seem correct to me other ...

Problem with PlanPlus and BCM
I have installed BCM onto my Outlook 2003 with PlanPlus installed. What a
headache that was, but after applying several updates, Outlook and PlanPlus
and BCM were operational. So I thought.
My problem is: Outlook crashes when attempting to edit a PlanPlus PowerNote.
I really like PowerNotes, I use them like a desktop note pade but I get to
save them and they are searchable. There are a ...

Could Not Open the Item. Try Again.
My Outlook (2007) and now a client's Outlook (2003) are both getting
this message when we start Outlook:
Window pops up that has title "Business Contact Manager for Outlook"
and says "Could not open the item. Try Again." Must click OK to
proceed- very annoying. I have BCM installed and use daily- my client
does not have BCM installed.
Any ideas on how to get rid of this dialog box?

Duplicate Business Contact
Anydoby know how to create a new business contact from an existing Business
contact? Seems like it ought to be a defualt feature but I can't seem to find
it. This is needed when you have multiple contacts at the same business.

PDA Replication (2007)
I'm getting rather confused. Is it, or is it not, possible to replicate all
BCM information onto PDAs?

Will it run?
I need BCM to run on my mobile device. I have an HP6920 still in the box. OS
is Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition .
I am running Vista Business version.
I had it working on a WM2003 device and decided to upgrade because I was

Help with newsletter customization in BCM Outlook 2007
Hi all
After creating a doc in Word, then pasting as HTML into Outlook and
selecting recipients,is it possible to have a field in the body of the
email auto-populated with the FIRST NAME of every business contact
selected as a recipient i.e. "Dear <business contact first name
here>"
This level of personalization is needed for a company newsletter.

Send marketing campaign/email to Account's primary contacts
Can someone please explain how I can send a marketing campaign (or
just an email) to all of my active accounts primary contacts? Or even
how I can create a view with primary contacts?
It seems that the Primary Contact field is not readily available for
filtering... or at least I cannot find it.

"Assigned To" field and users accessing shared BCM database
Hi
I have setup a shared BCM 2007 database using the Database Admin Tool.
I found that when adding users, the user name I specified needs to match
their login id on our domain. From finding this out, I am now left with
duplicate users in the "Assigned to" pulldown list, the extra ones being
where I didn't use their login id from our domain. I don't seem to be able
to delete the dup...

Creating and managing account groups in MS Outlook with BCM
Is there a way to create and maintain a goup of accounts?
For example, a lot of my accounts have legal entities that are linked to the
main company. It would be helpful to know which main company a particular
account is linked to so that marketing efforts are directed at the holidng
company and not on each of its many branches.

Can Outlook automatically update a previosuly attached Word file?
I'm looking to find out whether I have to relink an updated file or whether
Outlook will automatically acknowledge that an attached file has been

frustrated with remote connections.
any one know how to truly get bcm 2007 to run remotely where it can
work for mobile users?
when you get calls or need to add a taks/contact etc in the field it
takes to long to get to
1.laptop(it has to wake up, then bcm2007 takes a couple of minutes to
get up and running even offline.
2. pocket pc is help with only having minimal info on it, no projects
or tasks.
