Get Started Tab in Excel 2007
I downloaded this comm add-in and would like to remove it. When I attempt to
do so, I receive an error that it cannot be removed. Anyone have a
suggestion? Thanks....

how do i save the sort settings
previously excel has saved the settings in the 'tools-data-sort' box between
uses in an individual setting. in my new job, on my new computer, it
doesn't.
where is this behavior set?...

Does an upgrade replace a prior version or is it in addition to?
Hi -
I need excel 2007 for a limited purpose. There are 30 other people in my
office who have excel 2003.
If I get 2007, does it replace my current excel 2003 on my computer. I am
trying to avoid everyone having to upgrade if I upgrade. I know there is a
backward compatability patch in '07, but that would mean everyone would have
to install that patch.
So can I have both excel 2...

OPEN A FILE
When I want to open a file in Excel the files list in Date Used order.
Does anyone know if I can change the Default for the Explorer so that when I
hit the Icon to Open a File the "Open Box" shows the files listed in
alphabetical order.

Hiding matrix headers
On my Excel 2003, the row and column headers are surpressed from printing. A
file on a Excel 2002 computer always prints the numeric row numbers. I'm
trying to help the users, non-profit org., to supress the row printouts. I
note that they don't print the alpha column header, so it must be in their
print setup but I can't find it.
I can force it by selecting the print area but I must...

Columns
I am making up a form in Excel and I have a column that is split. I want to
make the upper column one width and the lower one another width. How do I do

excel 2003 starts and takes control of video appearance
When I start excel 03 the screen goes black momentarily then changes the
screen color. My wallpaper and other program windows show in strange color
combinations. When I close excel the screen goes black again and the screen
reverts to its original settings...

Number formats inconsistent
We run Office 2003 on a Citrix terminal server. Having just migrated from
one server to another (version 9.230.50211) we now encounter this problem:
Most of our spreadsheets were configured to display negative numbers in
brackets, via Format/Cells/Number tab/Number, then third selection down. If

Excel 2002/2003 Advanced Filter
I have an Excel spread sheet with about 33 columns on it. I want to use the
advanced filter to select four items in one of the columns and filter the
list in place. I have looked at the help and tried it, got info off the web
and tried it and nothing seems to work. Either the entire page is blank or
it only shows my criteria. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there anyplace

Excel 2007 - selected cells shading (not fill)
nWhen I select rows and columns in Excel, the selected cells are too feint to
see clearly (much darker in previous releases). Is there a way of darkening
the default selected cells shading? I'm not referring to Fill colours and
patters - just the colour/shading used when cells are selected. Thanks

Opening Excel
Every time I have an Excel file open and I try to open another file, the new
file shows up and covers the view of the one I already have open. Put
differently, the new file does not come up in a different tab. I need to be
able to tab between the two files as I work on them.
Any tips to fix this?

formula for calculating wt gain or loss cumulative in excel
I'd like to know how to set up a formula to put my weight in whenever in a
cell and have excel tell me if its a gain or loss and have it doing it
cumulative. Example If I weigh 120 and the next time I put in a weight I'm
122 the answer says 2 then the next time I put in 124 the answer would be 4
then the next time I put in 123 the answer would be 3 etc. in chart form
running vertically....

tells Excel where on the screen to locate itself upon startup?

Viewing Charts
I have used Excel 2003 for a while and have developed a seven "sheet" for
following mutual funds and stocks. The first sheet is the spreadsheet itself
and the other pages are various charts (line, or area - nothing fancy).
Upon migrating to Office 2007 the transition on my desktop was smooth and
uneventful. I can see all sheets of the file. Not so on the laptop. Only

Office Shortcuts -- Slow To Start
When I launch Excel or Word from a shortcut it takes forever to bring up the
program (60 to 90 sec). If I launch either program and then open the
document their is no delay. I have reinstalled Office, but it did not help.
I am running Office 2K on an XP (SP2) machine with 2GB of memory.
Any ideas?

How can we display the coloured border around the active sheet?
In Excel 2002, when there were two sheets in a window, we used to have a
bright border to show which was active and which was dormant. In Excel 2007,
the border colours are not transferred from Windows so active and dormant
sheets are all the same blue, silver or whatever. This is awkward to
