link updating on workbook open
Hi,
I have several files on a network server that contain links to a
master file, also on the network server. I've set the Startup Prompt
value for the link to "Don't display the alert and update links" with
an automatic update, intending for the files to be automatically
updated when opened. This works as intended when I open the files
from PC #1. However, when I open the files from...

Hyperlinks Randomly Change
Operating system is Windows 2003 with MS Office 2003. We have numerous Excel
workbooks with multiple spreadsheets in each. We have many hyperlinks within
each spreadsheet that links to many different directories/folders thus, not
allowing us to use Hyperlink Base.
When we establish the links they work for days, weeks, months, but then for
some unknown reason the links change. We have...

Valid Hyperlinks being reported as Invalid
Because of problems with hyperlinks randomly changing without any
intervention a VBA procedure was written to perform various validation checks
on the hyperlinks. One of the checks is to see if the link actually exist
and if not report an error. Following is an excerpt of the VBA procedure:
For Each h in Worksheets(curwksname).Hyperlinks
If (Dir(h.Address) = “â€) then

Setting up an Excel sheet to automatically determine when an employee should enter a retirement plan, perhaps What-If Analysis would help? Any other suggestions?
Perhaps a What-If analysis would help with this, but the situation
that presents itself:
For retirement plans, usually a person must work one year of 1,000
hours before that person can enter into the retirement plan as a
participant. However, plans usually have set dates of entry, usually
twice during the year. Therefore, a person enters on one of those
entry dates subsequent to his attain...

saved files loses hyperlinks
We have an Excel spreadsheet on our network with working hyperlinks. One
user moved it to his folder (still on the network) to make some changes. The
hyperlinks still worked at this point. When he was done with changes, he did
a "file save as" back to the original network location but the hyperlinks no
longer work. I have looked at Security and drive mapping but cannot figure
this on...

Excel LOOKUP Question
I have a need to do what I believe is called a two dimensional
search. I want to populate a cell with the contents of a cell that
exists at the intersection of a row and column each of which contains
a known value.
I've come to the conclusion that a combination of the HLOOKUP and
MATCH functions should do it. However, I don't seem to be able to get
it to work.
Here are the real Excel ...

I need to filter the results of my array.
I have a column "DOI" that is a date and I need the array to only display
the blank/null values into my new sheet. ie. IF(DOI=Null, DOI)
I also need to be able to bring over the Incident and owner columns only if
the DOI column is blank.
I am assuming that it would be an IF statement for the array but am having
trouble getting it working....

Hello,
In my sheet I've got a list of hyperlinks linked to pdf files.
I wondered if it was possible to automate printing of these pdf files
by clicking on an adjacent cell. So i was thinking, in one cell you
have the hyperlink to the pdf file and in the cell next yo it you can
print it automatically by clicking there.
Thanks for any help!!

I've started creating reporting files on Excel 2003 which are shared via
Mailsite 8.0 which link several files to one summary file. Currently the
file works when I open it, but not when another person opens it from their
computer. Ideally, multiple people would be able to access the summary file
with working links, and the correction could be easily applied to other

make a link to the value that appears in the cell D12 of the worksheet
called 'Revenues - Retrieve'. The result that app...

Weird Links Behavior
This is one of the strangest problems I have encountered in Excel, and am
wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom regarding this issue.
I have three files: File A, B, & C.

File B is linked to file C.
When I open File A alone, it shows the correct linked values.
When I open File B alone, it shows the correct linked values.
But when I open File A, and then...

E.G. in Excel
BarCode Volume

In Access
BarCode Volume
123456 20.00

Inserting Pictures onto a spreadsheet.
Hi All,
I have been reading many posts about using code to insert pictures from a
folder into an area of a spreadsheet and have made them work according to the
many people who have posted here. Most posts say that either you enter a name
or number in a cell that corresponds to a pic, or use a data validation box
to do a lookup. Again, I have made each of these methods work. My question:...
