Greetings All,
I am a school photographer and use Excel to organize students and
match them to the images I shoot of them. I simply have a sheet with
columns of data that contain rows of students with firstname,
lastname, grade, teacher, homeroom, studentID and the image names in
these columns.
I have 12 photo packages named A,B,C,D,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 that I offer
and in a final column ...

Inventory Tracking
I need to create an inventory tracking sheet for multiple items. Basically, I
want to enter an item and depending whether I am subtracting an amount of a
specific item or adding a specific item...I can keep a running total of Stock
on hand for that particular item as well as all other items on the sheet.

Pivot table data refreshing too slow
Hi all,
I have a pivot table which is compiled by another team. By selecting
from the drop down list for quarter and country, I can view data
accordingly.
However, it takes a long time to refresh the data. Is there any way to
make it faster?

Help needed with text to columns.
I have a list where the contents are of variable length, but fit a pattern,
e.g. "variable length string MON DD, variable length string", where MON DD
= Month and Day and MON is variable, i.e. Jan, Feb etc.
I want to split the text to columns at the Month, so need to be able to
split on 6 characters (including the space) before the comma.
How can I do this?

Cannot select a cell or range
Hi,
I have a couple of large workbooks that have the same problem. When a
cell is clicked the contents is displayed in the formula bar but the
cell is not selected, no black line around etc. There is no crash
according to the task manager but I can only close it using the task
manager. If I open the worekbook using the repair option it is ok for
a short time then the same happens again. ...

paste into multiple columns
Hi there,
I wanted to paste the following data of four numbers into four
consecutive columns in a row
-25.14462 -24.41551 -11.52499 26.46024
so that each number will occupy one column. Since I need to do such a
task many times, I hate to use text import wizard. So my question is
if there is a quick and dirty trick for this (ideally w/o invoking
mouse clicks).

Excel or microsoft works spreadsheet question
I need the correct formula for this spreadsheet. I've used microsoft works
spreadsheet but can change it to Excell. We have at work a spreadsheet that
we have date(A), numbered day 1,2,etc. (B), day sales(C), running
total(D) and average(E), five columns in all ABCDE all running down 30
days or so depending. We did the formulas for the two (running total and
average) but...

can't open VB editor in Excel 2007 under Vista
I have a spreadsheet with VB code in it. On my XP PC I can edit it without
any problem. On my Vista PC, I can run the code, but if I try to edit it I
get "error in loading dll". The VB window opens up, but the modules won't.
Also, it used to work - I don't know why it stopped. Can anyone help?

Counting cells based on cell formatting
Hello,
I have a large set of numerical data (cells I8:O24607) in which each
cell has been formatted to have either no fill or one of 5 different
colored (light yellow, yellow, orange, red, or black) fills. The cell
values and formatting were copied and pasted into this worksheet from
other worksheets so there is no conditional formatting applied to the

Office 2002 Excel and work , when change directory need one or two
minutes to change.

How do I get excel to give my a date 3 months from any date I type in.
I tried =SUM(C3)+90 but it gives me a date XX.XX.1900 when I drag the

Cell references have changed???
Hi All,
For some reason my Excel has changed the cell references to another
format, i.e. instead of being cell A1, it has changed to R1C1. Is
there a way to change this back to be the cell references that I am
use to dealing with?

multiple generation Excel workbook file size reduction
I have a workbook that has been updated each month for several years
and re-saved as the current month. For example in Feb-2007 the
Jan-2007 file was used, modified for Feb-2007 and then saved as
Feb-2007. In Mar-2007, the Feb-2007 file was used, modified for
Mar-2007 and then saved as Mar-2007. This was done for several years
and now the file which probably started out as 1MB is now 25+MB...

I'm running Excel 2007.
I have several macros (functions?) in an .xlsm workbook. The one shown
below includes the statement
Application.Calculation = xlCalculationAutomatic
at the end of the macro. It's after the function assignment statement
but before the End statement, so I'm not sure if it is even doing
anything. None of the other (similar) functions have this statement.

Can't find a working macro in Excel 2007
Some time ago, I wrote a couple of macros for an Excel workbook. I
recently returned to that workbook, discovered the macros, and would
like use them in other workbooks. Unfortunately, they will only run in
that workbook.
The workbook is named xyz.xlsm. I suspect that makes a difference.

How do I copy & paste WITHOUT the cell references changing, and
without using absolute cell addressess?
I KEEP needing to do this. At present my only solution is to paste a
formula into a
plain text editor and copy from there. But SURELY there is an easier

Cross reference
a simple excel, I have 4 columns in my excel
A is for checking
B is the price or product
C is profit
D is cost
what i want to do is simple, I set formular in C & D, once a user
input either C or D, the another cell will show the different. i.e.

retain only rows with condition that cells in column H containing "AU"
I have a large database containing columns with one column specifies
the product name. In one instances, I need to retain only rows with
condition that cells in column H containing "AU" of the entire string
in the cell. Delete those rows without it. The problem is , that the
AU of the string can appear in any position, not a fixed position.
Is there any simple way of doing it?

Counting number of non-blank cells in a range
Hi,
=COUNTA(RawData!CT11:CT1748) used to work for me in an old Excel 2007
file.
Does not seem to work in a new file.
Am I missing a setting?
Or, is there any other simple way?

Data Valadation Question
I'm looking into using data validation for my spreadsheet.
Will data validation allow you to do the following.
Let's say cell A1 must match cell D1. So if in cell A1 you put X, but
in cell D1 you put Y, can you have an error message coming up saying
data doesn't match, or whatever?...
