Sort Dates by Month and Day, Not Year
Is there a trick to sort a date column by Month and Day, and not have it
sort the list by year as first sort. Without breaking up the data into
multiple columns.

Show hours worked or Text "Day Off"
I have a spreadsheet that keeps track of hours worked during the week. The

Can Excel simulate a simple 2-dimensional database?
I need something that is half way between Word and Access. I'm
wondering if Excel can fill the bill.
For tome to time, I have a need to keep track of "events" and
calculate subtotals along more than 1 dimension. One example is gifts
where I could get subtotals by year and person.
My current application is annual giving. I'd like to create a
"database" with these fields:

runtime error
I recently got a new computer and purchased Office 2007 with it.
Every time
i open Excel i get the following error message:
Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Method 'Add' of object 'CommandBarControals' failed
I click on End and the file opens fine. Any ideas on how to get rid of
this

Excel Negative Time Format
When I input these keys:
Spacebar
:
Enter
Excel cell displays ######### (-0.0416666666666667)
-1/24 also displays -0.0416666666666667
Anyone knows why these four keys caused such result?

problem in opening excel 2003

whenever I am opening excel 2003, it is opening having rows in right side
and column number starting from right side of all sheets.
but if I create the file first, as like new> New Microsoft Excel Worksheet,
it is opening normally

Question about IF function
I would like to have every cell in column A that has value of "0.00"
be changed to "NO" and every cell that is > 0.00 to have number values

Hyperlinks and buttons in Excel 2007
Hi...
How do I, in the long and dark hours of a declining year, create a button
with a link to a web page in a workbook?
VB, I guess, but I don't know the code....
I have tried HYPERLINK() but the link do not work as it so flawlessly does
in Outlook.
It's a link with password and username in it....

open option for comma separated var file when commas missing?
Excel fails to open a speedfan log file (ends in ".csv") correctly as the
file contains tabs instead of commas. The developer is aware of this and
suggests using ooo instead of ms office. I don't think this will get fixed
anytime soon and I was looking at 2007 excel and seeing if I could change
the open option to where it recognizes tabs as a delimiter. If I rename the

Can't Insert Comments
Excel 2007
I tried to insert comments by right clicking on the cell, but the
option has disappeared.
I then clicked ont the "Review" tab, but everything but "show all
comments" is grayed out.
I opened another spreadsheet and the options are all there.
What the heck did I do?...

Spacing around text
I have a column of cells containing text. The amount of text varies. I
enter it with word wrap, so the height of each cell adjusts to fit the
text. Therein lies the problem. The text fills the cell from top to
bottom. When I print the column, it looks like a single column of
text.
How can I add some spacing around each block of text so that each is
visually distinct in the printed result?

Pivot Table - monthy dates
I'm using Excel 2000. I have financial data with expenditures by date. I've
added a column to calculate the month and year of the expense. A pivot table
has been built over the data to show the expenditures by year (rows) and
month (columns).
I need to have all months (Jan...Dec) listed to be able to link from another

I hope I did not confuse you with x and y. x is starting from left sheet 1,

The arrow keys stopped working properly
Dear All,
Suddenly, the arrow keys stopped working properly, i.e., when I hit
them, I get the start menu of Windows2000 instead of having the cursor
moving to a different cell in the Excel spreadsheet. Any ideas?

SUM by color type
Hi,
I want to sum cells of certain color. Googled the function
and came up with =colorfunction
=colorfunction($B$1,$B$3:$B$52,TRUE)
Per the example, aside from adding cells from B3 to B52 , I also want to
include range from E3 to E52. How do I include this in the formula?

Getting cell value of composed address
I have a grid of data where I am trying to apply conditional
formatting. The logic is that, for every cell in a column, if it's
value matches what is in row 3 of that column then I want to apply the
conditional formatting. So I have the following formula:
