Replication with laptop issues
Hi
I have a client that is entirely wireless except for the server machine
which is hardwired. I've read up on why you shouldn't use wireless with
replication and I've also read the posts about the USB drive as well.
I'm trying to figure out a hardware solution (even though I've always
been the software person.)
I want to replicate the database on to a wireless laptop and have them
lo...

Synchronizing through code locks up database for editing
I have about 5 laptops, all with a front and back end database on their
hard drives. The central server has the main back end database as well
as the deisgn master on it.
When users login to the front end database on their harddrives, they
have two options: login remotely (don't synchronize) and login from
office (synchronize). The problem is that when they login from the
office and sync...

Synchronise with data on USB drive
Hi there
I have a tricky client who is determined to drive me crazy. He has a
replicated database with one set of data on a 'server' pc which is
networked and a replica on his laptop which he travels with. There has
been a sorry history of data corruption problems which were eventually
solved by investing in new hardware and disabling his Hibernation
option on the laptop. They use Indir...

Software solution for replication
Hi There,
Does anybody know of a simple graphical user interface software solution to
assist replication for MS-Access 2000 via FTP or HTML that can be
automatically scheduled?
I have seen a bewildering amount of writing on a bewildering amount of code
to work around the replication manager, which has now dissappeared. I don't
really have the time to understand and impliment it.
If th...

Is it possible to invoke replication from Front End ?
We have an Access Database that a replica has been created by a developer
that has left.
There is different front end connected to the backend that is replicated
with each other. We would like to know would it be possible add some codes
so that end user not necessary to close the front end, open the backend and
run synchronize. Can it be done at the Front End ?
We are using Access ...

Synchronising two Access-Databases
Hello,
We develop dotNet applications.
We normally use SQL Server as datastore, but now we have a small project on
an existing Access Database.
Our issue is that there are two copies of the db, one on a lan and one on a
webserver (on the other side of the world).
Our customer want's to have those two (identical) database synchronised
bi-directional daily.
How can this be done in acces...

briefcase replication
I am in the process of doing a Briefcase replication as I have no experience
with access. We are using Access 2000. I replicate the back end to the
briefcase and leave the master alone. It seems
to replicate fine. The problem is how do I get the forms to work. I take the
laptop off the network and the forms open but I can't open the queries. It
says disk error. I know I am getting this error ...

Hello all,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has posted information
of this (and other forums). It has been incredibly useful browsing the
huge amount of information that people have posted, and I am incredibly
appreciative of everyone who has contributed.
I have a database which needs to run in 2 different offices (Jakarta
and Banda Aceh - it's for an NGO working with the T...

Terminal Server Question
I would appreciate any helpful comments on the following issues regarding
hosting an Access application on Terminal Server. Is it still possible to use
the following or do you have to install an email client and Word on the
server:
1 DoCmd.SendObject to email
2 GetObject to mail-merge to Word
Cheers

Replicas exploding to 2GB
Hi All,
We have a problem where replicas in our replica set will start blowing up
to 2GB. We do a compact/repair and they go down to their normal 200-300MB and
then as they are used they are used and replicated they start growing again.
We fight with this for a while rebuilding replicas and compacting and are able
to make the problem eventually go away and then it comes back. We are doi...

Synchronizing both Direct and Indirect
Have a situation where the network works well for ~90% of users with DIRECT
synchronization.
Several other users will need to use INDIRECT synchronization due to their
connectivity issues. Both of these user groups will access the same
replica for synchronization.
DIRECT synchronization works well. Any suggestions with combining this
with INDIRECT synchronization?
In addition, i...

Help please. Replication Manager won't start.
Had a hard drive start to fail this weekend. It was getting a little sticky
on startup, but once it started, it was fine. I got a new hard drive and
proceeded to use the hard drive setup program to configure the new drive.
The failing drive had two partitions C (OS) and D (replica database).
The hard drive program did a sector by sector copy of the C partion. I did
the transfer of ...

Would you implement a replicated database in this environment??
Would you implement a replicated Access database in this environment?
I have a nonprofit client who would like to collect data on new clients
and update data on existing clients via a laptop vs. the current paper
method. They would plan to use 2-3 laptops with replicated database on
each laptop. Only a single central office with the main copy of the
replicated database. Of course the...

General questions
It's probably already out there but I can't see where anyone asks:
1. Does the synchronization process matter in what order you do it? Seems
like depending upon the order, I've lost my Master Design. I've become quite
the expert at recreating it but I'm tired of doing so.
2. Why, once I have synchronized replicas with the Master design and made
new replicas for the users, are their...

Converting back end to Replica slows front end form load times
Hi All,
After converting the back end of a split database to a replicated set, the
data entry forms in the front end take 20+ seconds to load.
Back end is around 120MB.
Back end and front end are located in the same folder on my C drive.
Synchronizer is not running during my tests.
Linking the front end tables to a copy of the unreplicated back end in the
same folder gives fast (...

Replman - Managing multiple sets of application databases
I have three groups of application databases to manage, Set1, Set2, and

Set1 contains 35 databases, Set2 has 5 databases, and Set 3 has 15

These are three distinct, unrelated database applications I hope to
implement replication with.
I have been able to set up replman to manage what I call Set1 and this works
fine.
I do not seem to be able to create another Set of...

Conflict resolution window won't open
Our developer just added a couple of new tables to the back end design
master. This was done by copying the design master to an ftp site, which he

then copied it back to the original folder.
Unfortunately, he sent back a replica (for a yet unknown reason) instead of
a design master. I initially missed that. W...

I can do this on a win2k server running ADO Version: 2.7 and DAO Version:

version 2.8 I...
