Pocket Access sync problems with pc replica
Hi there,
I want to be able to use some software to synchronize
a MS Access database between a pc and several Pocket
PC PDA's. Each PDA will have a replica of the database on it.
I have wrote a front end for the database on the pc
and on the PDA's ( each PDA is running windows mobile
2003)
What I need is sync software that will sync all the
changes on either device (the pc and the p...

cannot create design master
HI All
I am new to replication but have been using access and VBA for many years.
I have an access application with a split front end (distributed as an MDE)
and back end architecture using access 2000. The users wish to take
advantage of replication.
I have obtained TSI tools and JRO examples from the access 2000 developers
hand book by Litwin & Getz. Using these I have started to bui...

FE/BE Replication Question
Hello all,
My client has an old Access application where all objects including tables
are in one database. They are also using replication whereas they have a
design master on the server and several locations have partial replicas which
are stored on the server, all clients are thin clients. They also are using
user level security. That all works fine.
Now, I have re-written the app...

Database is open after synchronization
After performing indirect synchronization using TSI Synchronization object
I'm unable to compact and repair the database because it appears to be open
by other users. At least there is an ldb file in its directory which won't
go away without closing the front end database first. I don't have any
recordsets open or any forms which would cause this. It only happens after I
synchronize.

Is there a way to synchronise/replicate an access db with sql server 2000

how is the GUID generated in the "Replication ID" column in ACCESS?
The GUID in that column does not look like a valid GUID.
I had values like :
{797F0000-0938-797F-64B3-F50AE0E11D00}
and
{658F0000-0958-658F-B4B9-F50AE0E11D00}
and according to this site : http://www.famkruithof.net/guid-uuid-make.html
, in a valid UUID the first number in the third part must be between 1 to
5.. ( here I have 6 and 7 ) . So how does ACCESS generate those GUID??
Thanks...

Searching in this Newsgroup I've found informations that a corrupt memo
field shall be the reason. In one older message I've found the advice

Replication 4.0 manager problem
My setup works with indirect internet replication for more than a year
almost without problems,
but today clients starts reporting :

Then I shut down the RM and the mstrans40.exe, rename the logfile,

Testing Connection
I have code that initiates an indirect synchronization using the TSI
Synchronizer object. This application will be distributed to 3 different
locations. Each location will have its own replica set so I can't hard code
data paths into the front end.
I don't want users to attempt indirect synchronization unless they have a
valid connection to the machine they're trying to synch with. I ca...

TSI SynchIndirect2 Argument
The help file for the TSI synchronizer states this about the argument
supplied to the synchindirect & synchindirect2 methods:
"Note that the specified database can be one of many different values. It
can be:
1. a valid UNC path to a database in the replica set. This option is not
usually recommended since Microsoft Jet only stores one UNC name and if a
machine has multiple shares o...

Synchronising with remote server
Hi
We have an internal ms access database which we need to synchronise with our
website with sql server 2005 backend which is hosted on a public host. My
question is; is there a way to keep the two databases synchronised using the
technologies built in sql server 2005 and/or access? We also have the
possibility of an in-house sql server 2000. Can this be used in anyway to
help, perhap...

Cannot Open Access over VPN: very strange behavior
Hi all,
I face a very strange problem, when opening a MS Access database over a
VPN tunnel.
The database reacts weirdly to users' opening requests:
1)-Users who are on the Internal LAN can open the database.
2)-VPN users cannot access the database, if the database has already
been opened on the LAN
3)-VPN users can open instead the database, if the database has not
been opened by any c...

Replication newbie question(s)
Hi -
I originally posted to public.access, but this sound like the right place
for my question.
This has already been addressed, sort of, but I could not find exactly what
I am looking for.
I have a low traffic web site with an access 2003 db behind it. I now need
to somehow
synchronize the live production data to a "shadow" database via http and the
internet. The shadow will be us...

Must Constantly "Reconfigure" Replication Manager
In trying to synch two replicas in two different cities but on the same
closed network, I am experiencing an odd problem. After about a week
or two of successfully scheduled indirect synchs, they start failing.
The only way to get them to work (and even doing a direct synch doesn't
get it going again) is opening the Reconfigure Replication Manager
window and hitting 'next' until I can hit 'f...

Large AutoNumbers?
I'm thinking this might have to do with an unsynched replica - but does
creating a record with an AutoNumber field generate a large integer like
1412143??
it seemed really out of place and through me off when I looked at the number.
I even saw a negative number in a table where the related field was a
foreign key.
if this is not related to replication, does anyone know what would caus...

Replication: Alternatives?
Good day,
I am ‘just’ starting to familiarize myself with ‘Replication’, and wish to
validate some concerns.
A client wishes to have a ‘Main’ database on a LAN that will be updated by 4
different users, each with a laptop, and each with a copy of the database (or
at least the relevant fields). The database has yet to be designed, however,
I anticipate the number of tables (and relationsh...

Using the replicaset collection of the TSI synchronizer object I looped
through each replica and checked the machine name of each. I found that the

machine name assigned to them. These are the two replicas I'm trying to use
indirect synchronization on. The sample code in the TSI help file uses
machine name to select re...

Locked by another user during Synchronization
I received a synchronization error after logging into my Database.
Luckilly, I'm the one who wrote the routine for the sync:
Couldn't save; currently locked by another user. (Error 3046)
One of my users is currently on and she has a front end which is pointing to
a replica back-end on the server.
How do I work around this?...

How do I create a GUID column in Access without the Autogenerate ?
Hello
I have an Access database and I use ADO.
I want to create one column to contain my GUID value . But when I set the
ADOX::adGUID as the property of my column , it creates a Replication ID
column and it puts a GUID value in each newly created entry in the table .
But I want to use my own GUID to set in that column, I don't want Access to
fill it up for me. Is that possible? Or the Repl...
