I use Estonian localization of MS Word 2007.
I have noticed, that sometimes, without asking permission, MS Word automatically changes my text, that is absolutely correctly spelled (I think this is supposed to be automatic spelling checking and error correction function). So the correct word will be replaced by another word that does not fit into my context anymore.
Some samples:
I wrote a text where was word 'elektromagnetilisi' [in English - electromagnetic]. As the word was too long to fit into the end of a row I added optional line break [Ctrl + '-'] after 'elektro', but MS Word2007 instantly changed the word into 'elektri' [in English - electro].
Sometimes, if I make a simple spelling error (a one letter typo) at the end of quite long word, MS Word changes just first letter of the word and gets absolutely different word that does not fit into my desired context. Such changes are pretty hard to notice, if typing fast.
Most of my spelling errors are still found and underlined, that is my favourite option for background spelling checker.
I want to disable this automatic misspelling function of MS Word2007, but I do not know how this function is called and where I can disable it. I still want, that spelling checker underlines misspelled words as I type, so disabling the spelling checker is not an option, but I want that there will be no such automatic corrections. Can somebody help me, please? I use the automatic correction list too (basically a 'smart quotes' etc), but I checked, that the list does not have those problematic words in it.
BTW! The ‘too busy’ screen of the MS discussion groups’ site, that erased my question several times, really pissed me off!

I have to fix my small mistake, that was done when I was retyping the question after too busy screen erased my first version: 'elektri' [in English - electric]

Have you tried the Office button > Word options > Proofing > AutoCorrect options ?
On the AutoCorrect tab, at the bottom, is a checkbox "Automatically use suggestions from the spelling checker". I suspect that unchecking that may solve the problem.

Thanks, Peter! Lets hope this does the trick! The problem with localized Office versions is, that introduced translations quite often have different meaning than it was in the original English text and sometimes it is more difficult to understand, what function is supposed to be under certain label, even if the label is written using my mother tongue.
