I have been using this fax program for a couple of years with no problems. Just recently, whenever I try to send a fax that is more than one page, I get an error message that the fax failed. Other fax machines using the same fax line have no problem. I am running Windows XP, again the Fax Console version is 5.1, build 2600, sp2. Any help is appreciated!

State the steps used to create and send the fax paying particular importance to the format of the file type. State the error message precisely and at what point it arose. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Mark Schneiderman" <MarkSchneiderman[ at ]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5182A0DC-26C7-47C0-9B5A-81AFFA100DF8[ at ]microsoft.com...

1) Scanned documents in HP Director program (send to fax) 2) Once all documents scanned, send to fax wizard 3) Compose cover page 4) Finish 5) Fax # is dialed and connects 6) Status box says 'sending page 1' 7) While sending page one, eventually the error message 'An error occurred while sending the fax' comes up, and the phone connection is lost.

Documents created in third party applications can only be printed to the Fax Printer using the originating application for the transmission to succeed consistently. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Mark Schneiderman" <MarkSchneiderman[ at ]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:07F10EB3-BC32-48EF-BC73-4F7B50651E1A[ at ]microsoft.com...

Like I said, I've NEVER had problems like this till just recently....not sure what you mean by 'using the originating application'. Does that mean it would need to be 'printed' from something like Word or Adobe instead of scanning into the HP application?

No. It means you should print to the fax printer from whatever HP scanning software you are using. Sending to the fax wizard forces the fax software to do rendering it cannot do. The fax software has no way of distinguishing the breaks between pages or documents, so it fails after the first page. You could also create a single document that you could fax as an attachment as long as your OS has a printto verb defined for the document type. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Mark Schneiderman" <MarkSchneiderman[ at ]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:091E4229-AFBE-4D24-A2B8-C35C5CE341B0[ at ]microsoft.com...
