OneNote 2007 high ram usage, slow
over_g <marc.immer[ at ]gmail.com> 2/14/2007 6:06:43 PM
Hi all!
I just switched from on03 to on07.
The ram usage of OneNote seems to odd, its starts fine with 20Mb, and when inking, etc, the memory usage goes up and up (highest I had was 370Mb).
The wired part is, it never comes down again, even when idle.
OneNote then also is very slow to use, ink shows up very delayed.
I have 1GB ram.
Is this normal?

I'm using a Toshiba m200 TabletPC with wacom drivers,
1GB of RAM,
Windows XP Tablet edition SP2,
Windoes Desktop search installed.

Thanks!

If you've just installed it, and converted/upgraded your ON2003 files,
WDS may be doing an initial index of that data and of other data on your
hard drive.

I would let it run overnight to get the bulk of the initial indexing
done, then reboot and see if the resource utilization improves for you.

hi,
I use it since a couple of days now. I actually noticed a few times the Rams usage got down to a low value again, but that does not happen very often. However, I found a workaround:
Minimize OneNote, then open it again. Memory usage drops down to 20-40mb, works all the time.

hey again,

There still seems to be a problem with my OneNote 2007.
When I continously write on a page unitil its about twice its original height, the ram count hets up extremely high. Every addition of a new stroke uses 90% CPU for a few seconds, and the memory usage goes up a few MB. Its this normal? Does anyone else notice a decreased performance on large pages?
I'm started to get really frustrated, On03 ran fine on my tablet...

I've got the same problem... Some of my classes last three hours and I always use the stylus, ON07 goes downhill once I get to 2-2.5 pages. The solution's that I've come up with (which arent great) are to start a new page and/or restart OneNote.

Another annoyance is that the system starts clogging up again when I go back and edit long pages..
